From the Sun: Roo: Let me go By NEIL CUSTIS
WAYNE ROONEY has told Alex Ferguson ’I’m fit and ready to go to the World Cup.’
The England superstar had a vital scan on his broken foot in Manchester yesterday. And his message is — ‘I can make it’
Rooney spent just under 30 minutes having his scan at the exclusive Whalley Range clinic and the test showed there had been an encouraging improvement to his metatarsal injury.
But England boss Sven Goran Eriksson was kept totally in the dark about the result.
That will be made public around lunchtime today — and now the Manchester United striker does not want his club boss to stand in his way.
Ferguson is determined to stamp United’s authority on proceedings. And United are ready to sue the FA should Rooney return crocked from Germany.
But Eriksson will play hardball against any attempts by United to find anything they can use to pull the strike ace from the squad.
England’s backroom staff are also becoming increasingly frustrated over reports that Rooney has no chance of making it to the World Cup.
The rules are in England’s favour, however, with Eriksson within his rights to INSIST on the player joining the squad — and he will be backed all the way by FIFA.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm happy if it's true as an England fan, but only if he's been given permission from United. United come first, and if he goes against their word because of pressure from the FA, and sponsors and ends up getting injured it is us who will suffer the most.

The past two seasons have been fucked with BIG injuries at the start of the season. I'd much rather England not take Rooney (lets be honest, we're not going to win it with an less than match fit Rooney anyway) than him get fucked over and miss the start of our season. We really need to prove ourselves this season, whereas England can go fuck themselves, because Rooney is practically the only English player who gives a shit anyway.

That's what my point is. If he's anything but 100% then don't take him...but if he is 100%...GREAT!, let's go win the World Cup

If the Doctors say he’s fit enough and the scans are positive and Rooney himself feels fine then he should go. If not, then stay. My personal beliefs are that he’s going and nothings going to stand in the lad’s way. He wants this badly as he’s that kind of player. I wish him the best of luck.

It was his first game since injury when he played vs. Fenerbache and he banged a hat trick. I know he's had less time and that but he's the sort of player where he has no fear, any other player would be scared of injurying themselves again!

Totally and utterly different set of circumstances, I'm sorry but just cos it happened before doesn't mean it'll happen every time. I mean I passed an exam I hadn't studied for once does that mean it'll happen every time? Rooney is englands most important player but a considerable distance if england come up against anyone who even half knows what they're doing the word from the dressing room will be "go in hard on rooney get him out of the game" so for the sake of england going heroically out in the quarters united could lose Rooney for an inordinatley long period of time.

I made the point of his character not the injury...I think you've misunderstood me mate!

England fans all want him there. All the scouser shit, and Leeds sheep shagging bastards, and Chavski scum, they're all desperate for him to be there. He'll play, and they'll all be celebrating. Then he'll get injured, and they'll be celebrating even louder.
I want him to go, and play as a sub. I want the whole world to see that the lanky bastard, Peter "Does the circus know you're here?" Crouch, Liverpool starter, is a load of shite. And I want Rooney to come on for 15-20 minutes a game and do the business.

Yup, that’d work for me, sub appearances and matches here and there, as it doesn’t necessarily have to be him playing to make an influence, as it could also give everyone a psychological boost just because of his presence. I don’t know about you guys but Crouch would be in my all time top ten worst players, easily, he can’t head the ball and he’s 8 foot tall.

6 weeks till full training next scan on June 14th....surely he can't go? Rather have a fit Defoe than taking Rooney now.
EDIT: ok sky are officially retarded, it's 6 weeks from when the injury FIRST happened. Few weeks to go, which is alrite i spose.
