I think every United fan is bursting for Rossi to become a regular, however I think Fergie is spot on as usual in holding the lad back. I've watched him for the first team on the few occasions he has played and while he has a wonderful touch and football brain, he is still too easily maneuvered off the ball.
I would like to see him in pre season before making up my mind whether we should buy another striker, but I think a loan spell until Jan and we will have a player who can then stay in the first team for a long long time.
Confidence is critical to players especially young players who haven't got the knowledge and experience of a pr oven record to fall back on in lean times.
Had this been the era of Scholes Giggs Neville Becks etc I would have played Rossi a lot more but now we cannot afford to gamble - Chelsea are that good.

I don't think he needs a loan spell to be honest, I know it sounds daft but if this guy scores a goal it will bring him the confidence to succeed at this level at OT. I know he scored vs. Sunderland but is was quite a while before he got another game so he couldn't build on the momentum. Only Fergie knows what is best though and if he thinks it is to send him off on loan then that's what is best!

Rossi's attitude reminds me of Ole's when he first came to United. Everytime he gets near the goal he tries to shoot. I have patience with Rossi, because he's young and from the youth team...but I remember getting extremely frustrated with Ole at times in the beginning, and can imagine me feeling the same about Rossi, if I'm honest.
I'd like to see him getting sub appearances next year in games we're comfortably winning. He needs experience, but we shouldnt be relying on him.

I don’t want to be replying on the boy just yet. I know he needs action, he needs to be involved in first team action to be able to cope and get better, but is that really a good idea knowing we need to be pushing Chelsea all the way next season and bringing in the youngsters might throw a spanner in the works if you will. As Scott’s mentioned, perhaps bringing him on as substitute, if we’re a few goals up, easing him in now and again.
And I’ve said it before and I will say it again, as good a player he is, I don’t think he’ll stay as a striker, but more of a Scholes type player.

He has the attributes to be 'a Scholes type player' and Fergie has said that once or twice too. I could see that happening as our strikers are all relatively young and it maybe too hard to force them out of the side. But, who would of thought Ruud would almost be forced out of the club by Saha?

Quite a few people, including Fergie and Ole, have said that Rossi is the best finisher at the club...which says a lot when we have players like Scholes and Rooney in our squad!
I'd always like to see him playing up front. Although yes, he does have some qualities similar to Scholes, he doesnt really have very much strength. Maybe that will change, but I think he'd work well sitting behind the striker, but not in the centre of the park as a midfielder.

I think Fergie sees he will have a big future when he breaks through, so he's holding him back until the time when he comes on and shows the impact he has had in the reserve league. Fergie knows he will put him on one time and he'll make goals and score them, then everyone will be raving about him and there will be a lot of expectation, following that he'll probablly get more chances.

I was going to ask where you would like to see Rossi playing but its already been brought up. Personally i think he has the talent and vision to play in the scholes role.
I am very excited about Rossi and would expect to see more of him this season. If he was to go on loan I would hope it would be to a prem team, any lower division would do nothing for his development

People look at Scholes and Rossi and think they are similar because of some of their physical attributes and an eye for goal, but I will be very surprised if Rossi can adapt to a midfield role, Scholes did but he was stronger and had the ability to adapt to that role.
I just cannot see that happening with Rossi, I actually wish he could but and seriously hope I'm wrong but I cannot see him being anything other than a striker, more than probably behind a main striker.

he is a growing striker and SAF should play him in that position to make him become better
