Alex prepares fans for no attacking midfielder signing this summer by doing the"i expect scholes to hit peak form thing again"...Good god...
Scholes Tipped To Regain Best Form
Sir Alex Ferguson believes Paul Scholes can reach peak form for the Reds next season. The United manager is searching for a defensive midfielder in the transfer market to play alongside the fit-again Salfordian.
So far that search has proved fruitless, but one certainty as far as Sir Alex is concerned is that United will benefit from the return to form of Scholes, who missed four months of 2005/06 campaign with a serious eye injury.
"We're convinced he'll be back next season," said Sir Alex. "He's a sensational player, one of the best I've ever had."
Scholes made his comeback on the final day of the season as a second-half substitute in the 4-0 win over Charlton. His last appearance before that was in the 2-2 draw with Birmingham on 28 December.
The Reds boss admits it must have been a worrying time for the midfielder.
"It was an injury we've never been used to," he told the latest issue of United magazine. "It must have been worrying Paul because when you've got a problem with blurred vision and nobody can really give you a reason for it, then it's a concern."
Scholes visited two specialists to determine what the problem was. In the end, rest was the prognosis. But he wasn't expected back until the start of 2006/07, so being named on the bench came as something of a surprise.
"Fortunately he got back into training, he played the second half of the last game of the season against Charlton and he did very well."
In truth, the 31-year-old midfielder has not consistently rediscovered the form he showed in arguably his finest season at the club - the 2002/03 title-winning campaign - when he scored 20 goals and made a fair share of Ruud van Nistelrooy's 44 strikes.
The Reds are hoping his recent return will come as a boost for the player and United's midfield department.

Gerrard & Lampard step aside, Scholes is back!
I can't wait to see him in action next season, we really missed his presence along with Heinzé's this season and I think with them two playing we would of got them 8 pts to close the gap. Just when Scholesy got his form he got injured which was sad really, hopefully he'll have one more flying season before he departs as a true RED LEGEND

Scholes had a shite start to the season, was one of our worst players (which says a lot when we were playing Richardson at left back and Fletcher!). But then the Chelsea game came around and it was back to Scholes of old, and from that game up to his "injury" (or whatever it was) he just looked really sharp. His ability to read the game and his vision for a great move is almost perfect.
In the Charlton game and Keano's testimonial, his first games back, he looked pretty much as good as he was before. Pretty incredible for him to slot back in like that. But it's because of that I have no doubt he'll be on top of his game next season.

Great news, probably my fav player in our team. I'd still have him in the England team aswell, over Lampard, how does that donkey get to wear an England shirt, all he can do is score deflected goals! Anyway, if Fegie doesn't sign a creative midfield playmaker and relys on Scholes he could regreat it big time. It's a huge gamble imo, if he gets injured and we're short in midfield AGAIN, they will be calling for his head!

Its great news to have Scholes back but we do need to think about finding a good cover for him as of late he has been getting injured often. His age is catching up with him

I think Scholes could be in for an indian summer, I've seen players go off the boil for a few years and then spring back to life as good as ever for one last peak.
However that position is one of the most important on a football pitch in my opinion, a player can dictate the play win the ball, dictate the pace of the game and open up defences.
Scholes should have competition fromn Giggs and Jones and another signing be it Riquelme Davis or another buy!
