Hypothetically speaking, say we could swap Rooney for any player in the world, would you want to do it? And if so, who?

No I don't think I would. It's not a "no fucking way" I mean, I wouldn't exactly be devastated if we swapped him for Ronaldinho, but I wouldn't want to. He's too unique, all the players mentioned are great but rooneys passion and fierce style of play set him apart from the rest....plus he's not french, or an argie!

I would be devastated if we swapped him for any of those players. The guy will become better than Ronaldinho and at the moment is as good, that's the only player in World football that I'd even draw comparison with because it's pointless doing it with Henry & Messi because they aren't worthy of licking Wazza's boots.

I wouldnt swap him for anyone, no. It started because I had a conversation with a bloke in my local, and the topic of Wayne Rooney being the best player in the world came up. I mean, he didnt even get in Fifa's top 10, and he's just a kid... but then, I wouldnt want another player. So does that mean we all think that Rooney is THE best player in the whole world? Lol I dunno. It's just something to think about. As for me, no fuckin way would I swap him

I wouldn't swap Gary Neville for anyone in the World, does it mean he is the best?... I wouldn't swap Ryan Giggs for anyone in the World, does it mean he is the best?... I wouldn't swap Paul Scholes for anyone in the World, does it mean he is the best?... I wouldn't swap Ruud van Nistelrooy for anyone in the World, does it mean he is the best?... the list could go on.. You could ask loads of these questions, it just goes to show how diverse people's opinions are and that's what makes forums such as these so good! ;D

MUFCadz, all those players you mentioned I would swap. 3 of them are 30+... you'd be crazy not to swap them with younger players, who are also the best in the world. If I had a choice between us having Scholes or Ronaldinho...I'd pick Ronaldinho in a heartbeat. No offence Paul lol.

Ronaldinho makes it very tempting, but Rooney just edges out.

I'd say no because what weighs in Rooney's favor is his determination and passion...he's always working

The only tempting ones would be Ronaldinho and Leonel Messi (the future Maradona). But Brazilians donĀ“t function properly in the PL, and Messi is too small and fragile.
