I always think that it is nice to have a little awards thread, to be able to look back on the season just passed and assess the highs and lows of the season along with the players that got us to where we are today.
So basically here are a few categories i have complied! Who gets your vote? As 'Big Brother' would now say 'you decide'.
Best Goalkeeper - Best Defender - Best Midfielder - Best Attacker - Best newcomer - Most loyal and spirited player - Best goal - Overall best player of the season - Best Goalkeeper - There is no question that i am going to vote Edwin van Der sar here, he is one of the best keepers that we have had for a Long time, and when we are down, he is there to make sure that we get right back up, and if he is the one to make the mistake, then not only will he realize this, but he will make sure that he makes up for it and that is the sign of a world class keeper. I know that he is getting on a bit, but he is still producing the goods and he will make sure that he will go right to the end, we have struck lucky with him and he as been a breathe of fresh air this season!
Best Defender - For this one i am going to Vote Rio Ferdinand. He as been superb for us this season and he is getting better and better and he is peaking at the right time with the world cup finals in Germany just around the corner. Not only is he a defender but he is a team player and with the team that we have got this is a key. He is a natural leader and he will make sure that the defense that we have got out on the pitch is up to scratch and it is the best that we can get. He deserves this award and it is no where near the last that we have seen of him.
Best Midfielder - For this one i am going to have to say Ryan giggs. To be out there at the age that he is at at the moment, with hardly any quality in the center of midfield, and to do the job that he does every game is something special and he deserves this award for all the hard work that he as put into this season.
Best Attacker - Without a doubt, i have gone for Wayne Rooney here, he is a world class player that as made sure that we have come through this season in the way that we have and we have got to make sure that this is just the start of a re-born Manchester united and we have got to make sure that we keep the players such as Rooney, he is one of the best players that we have got in our team and when we are down, loosing or are out, we can rely on him to be there to get us right back on top. Legend.
Best newcomer - Vidic gets this one for me. Over the time that he as been here he as been a very strong player and he as made sure that he as made the vital 1st impression count and this is showed with the amount of games that he now gets at the club and i am sure that in the seasons to come, he will become one of the best defenders that we have got and to be able to defend along side Rio Ferdinand and Gabriel Heinze is going to be only the best move for him. Next season we can hope for alot more from him and he will make sure the he will be there to deliver what is asked of him.
Most loyal and spirited player - I have chosen our captain for this one, Gary Neville. So far in the role that he as now undertaken he as been superb and he as made sure that he does what all great captains do and that is to get the team in the right frame of mind and make sure that on the pitch we are playing the best that we can and he is always there for us no matter what, loyalty at its highest quality.
Best goal - For me it as got to be the blinding long distance shot that Cristiano Ronaldo scored at Portsmouth a bit back. Some may say that this was hit and hope, and some may say that it was pure talent, excellence and quality, and i am with the 2nd option there thats for sure.
Overall best player of the season - Wayne Rooney! there is no doubt for me that he gets this award. Wayne is a great inspiration, he is someone that we can all look up to, and he is one of the worlds best strikers for both club and country thats for sure. He is world class both all over the field and he is often seen way back in defense helping out, a superb all round player and i hate to think where we would be without him now that we have got through this season, chances are, not even in the top 4.

Best Goalkeeper - ... erm its gotta be edwin, best signing in a long time. If only we had got him earlier.
Best Defender - This one is a toss-up between G.Nev and Rio as they both (Rio this season) have put in 100% every game they have played. I think it has to be Rio though as without him in the side we are a much shakier outfit. Very calm on the ball, often too calm in the past, but this settles the team down in high tempo big games. And also, the last minute header against the dippers ;D haha legend.
Best Midfielder - I'm going to say Giggsy for his contribution later on in the season. The way he adapted to the role in the centre of midfield was a main reason we kept up with pace at the end of the season when the midfield options were limited. Plus also he is a legend, always been my favorite, and i stuck by him when the guns were all pointing his way.
Best Attacker - Wayne Rooney. Scares the s*&t out of every defender in the world. Never seen him put less than 100% into any game thus far. After a dismal display, where most of the team look like they slacking a bit, the same can not be said of Rooney. I have thought that on a couple of occasions last season.
Best newcomer - Vidic has done very well since his arrival. Looked very solid when called upon.
Most loyal and spirited player - G. Nev because of his attitude to the game. After Rio scored against the scum he showed his passion for the club, and although the haters dont agree, i thought it was fully justified. He even stands up to rowdy MUFC fan's critisism, which he has a right to do as captain and fan of the club himself.
Best goal - Rio against scum. Maybe not the most technically beautiful goal of the season, but definitly the most beautifully timed goal of the saeason... took the smile about a week to dissappear from my face. Just the ticket after the 3-1 loss to city the week before.
Overall best player of the season - Edwin Van Der Sar. Best keeper since the great dane himself. Everything we have been searching for in a keeper since schmeichel, edwin has got. The defence look more calm when hes in attendance, not to mention the fan's nerves.

Best Keeper: Well its gotta be vds right. What To Say about him that hasnt already been said.
Best Defender: Gary Neville, the level of comitment he has put in this season is startling. And his distribution from the right is simply brilliant.
Best Midfielder: Ryan Giggs. Giggs has been great. Not a classic season by any stretch of the imagination but his hard work and adaptability won me over.
Best Striker: Wayne Rooney, Time and time again Wazza has been inspirational for us. Its not just about the goals he scores, its also about the assists and overall build up play he provides the team.
Best Newcomer: Park Ji Sung, Vidic has been good and i am really looking forward to seeing him next season, but park has been incredible. His energy and endless running has been a great morale booster for me personally. No One has worked harder than him on the pitch.
Most Loyal Sprited Player:Gary Neville. The Captain what else can i say. Gary's a true Man Unted player.
Best Goal: Ronaldo vs portsmouth. What a shot.
best player of the season: Wayne Rooney

BEST KEEPER- VDS hasnt given anyone else a chance. Great signing. Has made us look so much more organised at the back.
DEFENDER- Wes Brown has been fantastic this season. Rio might be the one who looks good on the ball but every player like that needs a no-nonsense player covering them. Brown is always there getting stuck in.
MIDFIELD- probably have to go with PARK. He never seems to get tired and gives everything he has for the team. Not great infront of goal but still beats giggs for me.
ATTACK- Im gonna stay away from rooney. he has had a great season but we expect this from him, even at his age. For me SAHA has been fantastic since his return from injury, so good infact that he kept ruud out the team.
NEWCOMER- all the new boys have been great with the exception of EVRA!! im sure he will come good next season though.
MOST LOYAL- like almost everyone else im giong for G.NEV. not the classiest player but gives absolutely everything he can. Leading by example.
BEST GOAL- fletcher vs the chavs!! ok, he didnt even mean it but it couldnt have been sweeter!!
PLAYER OF SEASON- VDS or BROWN. I feel it was mainly these two who gave us the much needed stability at the back.

Best Goalkeeper - Van Der Sar Best Defender - Rio Ferdinand, excellent all season. Best Midfielder - Ryan Giggs, when called upon to do a job in the centre of midfield he filled the spot so effectively. Creating and scoring goals as well as tracking back to help the defence, how old is he? ;D Best Attacker - Wayne Rooney, the White Pelé. Best newcomer - Van Der Sar Most loyal and spirited player - Gary Neville, has been a great captain and that celebration vs. the 'Dippers was priceless as a United fan! Best goal - Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Pompey Overall best player of the season - Wayne Rooney

Best Goalkeeper - Van Der Sar, everything you could say has been said! Best Defender - Im going to go with Neville, never faisl to commit himself to the club, exactly what UTD need Best Midfielder - hmmmm giggs plucks it for me, his age doesnt stop him, played out of position, always gives his all, loyal servant to the club, very important, though Ronaldo showed commitment playing so soon after his dad died, respect to him for that. Best Attacker - A hard one, rooney has been great and without him not sure how we would have done so maybe he just edges it, though Saha, proved his wortha nd ive always liked him from the very first LMA game when iw as UTd, always bought the lad! Everyone laughed at the time but him adn Smith i always got em Best newcomer - Vidic Most loyal and spirited player - Have to agree with everyone with Neville, though Giggs has been lotyal all his career to UTD. Best goal - Fletcher against the chavs, matter f fact ANY goal against the chavs wins it lol Overall best player of the season - Dont think we would have done as well without Rooney, or Van Der Sar so i think its joined between the two Overall, in the cirumstances it hink it was a great season for Utd! well done lads

Van Der Sar definitely gets best goalkeeper but im hoping next season the award might go to ben foster. best defender- definitely not rio. he was shocking at the beginning of the season(remember when he was dropped for england?). between gary and wesley for me. i think ill hav to go with gary tho coz hes so consistent Best midfielder-its gotta be giggs coz hes done a fantastic job in a position most ppl wud never hav dreamed of playin him. Best Goalkeeper - Van der sar. Best Defender - Rio's done well but I just don't like him after all that's happened and don't even get me started on his celbration the other night with the Chelsea boys, sometimes his heart isn't with utd, so for me GGGG Neville! Best Midfielder - Giggs. Performed better than anyone thought he could in midfield and who else is there tbh! Best Attacker - Saha over Rooney for me, just to be different. He won us our ony trophy and we played some of the best football with him upfront. Best newcomer - Vidic for that just for that display against Arsenal and that crucnhing tackle! Most loyal and spirited player - Red Nev, more than anyone else wants to bring trophies to utd, he's got one (ok the carling cup) but onwards and upwards! Best goal - Techinaclly I'd say the run by Rooney where he chipped it to rvn who spun on a penny and cracked it in the net, but for sheer joy it wasFletchers header against That team from London, closely followed by Rio's header! Overall best player of the season - Wayne Rooney, there's no doubt about it, he is just fucking brilliant!

Best Goalkeeper - I shall indeed shock many with my selection, especially as I am Edwin van der Sar's biggest fan, but Ben Foster has been absolutely magnificent for Watford. Thoroughly deserving of his England call, he has been a major factor in Watford's rise and he could be back at Old Trafford this season as a very capable back-up to Eddie. Best Defender - Tough one this, for all the few games he played, I thought Wes Brown was good. Gary Neville was, as ever, Mr. Consistency but I thought Rio was excellent throughout, barring the odd slip, and he gets my vote. Best Midfielder - I was one of Ronaldo's biggest critics earlier in the season and, although he has come on immensely in the past twelve months and had a very difficult year all round, he still does not offer what Beckham and Giggs did for years - the final ball. His passing's poor at times and his crossing is often woeful, if it comes at all, so I'll bypass him. O'Shea did a commendable job despite being out of position, Fletcher was alright but hardly set the world alight, so my vote goes to Smithy, despite having missed half the season. That almost says it all, doesn't it? He is still far from the complete player but what he offered was heart and determination by the bucketload, all epitomised by the incident that saw him suffer his horrific injury. Get well soon, you're needed son! Best Attacker - Only one winner. Ruud's been blowing hot and cold and no-one's really sure if he's coming or going, Saha actually impressed me at times with his workrate but his wastefulness let him down. Mr. Rooney, the floor's yours....... Best newcomer - Does Rossi count? He impressed in the few chances he got but surely it isn't enough to justify winning a seasonal award. Vidic did well since he came in, has settled well and has adjusted to the pace of the Premiership. Not bad at all. Most loyal and spirited player - Giggs. Simple as. Got a tough time not so long ago (remember the OT crowd booing him) but he has come back as good as ever and his loyalty is plain to see - not many players will spend their entire careers at one club. Best goal - Ronaldo's bending, dipping, swerving, 30 yard screamer that left Dean Kiely on the broad of his back on the Fratton Park turf. Overall best player of the season - It's got to be Rooney, hasn't it? The fact that the whole of England are pinning their hopes on a 20-year-old says it all. The thing is that they're right though - and, as an Irishman possibly feeling a bit jealous, I hope he doesn't recover in time for Germany. ;D Seriously though, he has been fantastic again and, in my view, those were among the best three billion pennies that Manchester United have ever spent. Doesn't sound much when you say it quick............

Best Goalkeeper - Edwin, the closest thing to Schmeichel we will ever get imo. fozzie has been superb for watford as well, wish him all the best.
Best Defender - Brown all the way, so consistent, the fact that he isnt in the England set up is appaling.
Best Midfielder - Ronaldo has picked his game up from January onwards (as he always seems to do) and ive been impressed with Giggsy.
Best Attacker - Rooney by a fucking country mile.
Best newcomer - Bardlsey filled in for Neville brilliatly considering his lack of first team games beforehand. Rossi will become a UTD regular in 3-4 years.
Most loyal and spirited player - GARY "HATES SCOUSERS" NEVILLE !!!!!!!!!!
Best goal - in terms of ability, RvN's volley vs Charlton, i enjoyed the most- Rio v Dippers, Fletch v Tesco's and Roon's vs the Arsenal.
Overall best player of the season - Rooney, narrowly pipping Wes Brown.
