''Calm Down, Calm Down!'' England have been told not to rush Wayne Rooney back into action versus T&T by two independent medical assessors. (Various Papers)
Ruud: ''I want to stay at United!'' Ruud van Nistelrooy has stated his desire to kick off next season at Old Trafford. (Daily Star)
That is just two stories which were pointed out by Sky Sports News' review of the back pages. The Van Nistelrooy story is the most positive for me, I really want him to stay and if that is true I'll be elated!

Can I just clear this up. Rooney HAS NOT picked up a fresh knock it is just that the assessors don't think he should start vs. T&T. Whether it is true or not we'll find out tomorrow I suppose.

#secret# Sir Alex will get rid of Ruud though, it wont be upto the player. I think Fergie thinks he's lost a bit of his cutting edge! I f Ruud was still putting in performances for us like he was two seasons ago then I'd be desperate for him to say, but he's not. I'd rather bring in a player who will AND give Saha his chance!

Yeah I'm not too convinced Ruud is going to stay especially with rumors of Torres coming. I think Fergie is going to get the players we need for the midfield and a new striker...I like Ruud but I keep getting a sinking feeling his time is up.

As much as I am grateful for what Ruud’s done, I don’t think he has it anymore and like Nathan said, I too would rather see someone else come in, and also Saha getting a chance. For me, that person to be brought in wouldn’t be anyone else other than Klass Huntelaar. I’m a huge admirer of his.

I can't believe how quick everyone has been to write Ruud off, alright he isn't going to get any better than he he is now (as he's approaching 30) but he still scored over 20 premiership goals last season and didn't play for most of the 2nd half of it. For the reputed 7-8 million we'd get for him, is it really worth selling him to one of our Champions League rivals. If he went somewhere like Milan, he would score for fun, imagine if we got rid for 7 million and then they won the Champions league with his goals, we'd be sick as a parrot. Due to the Glazers' debt, we have limited resources and our main priority has to be 2 quality central midfielders, even if Ruud goes, I can't see Fergie spending big money on a striker.

I despise the Daily Star as much as any of the other scummy rags so wouldn't believe a word printed in it. My heart says Ruud should stay but Ive not seen a performance out of him to back my feelings for a long time, although if you were to ask me now, goin off his goals record Id rather he stayed then a new guy come in. Either way Im with whatever Fergie decides but Id love to see the "The Hunter" at OT he seems to have everything, can head a ball, hold the ball up, turn and run at players Oh and that natural ability of finding the net with either feet from any angle.

Fact is we would HAVE to buy big if Ruud went.
Glazers have always stated that for a return in their investment they must be competing to be the best team in England.
To be the best team in England we need Carrick, Riqueleme and a TOP QUALITY striker if Ruud leaves.
Time will tell but Im quietly confident of the Glazers input when required.

Whoever Fergie decides to sign, I'll be happy because I've got no doubt they will be great. But I'm still confused why we didn't offer Ruud to Milan in exchange for Shevchenko. That, in my opinion, would have been great. I wouldn't be happy seeing Ruud go, but if he was to leave and we could get his natural replacement in a straight swap deal, that would have been a huge problem solved. We could have killed two birds with one stone. I've still got confidence in Fergie. But why he didn't tempt Milan with Van Nistelrooy for Shevchenko, only he knows.

Heard the rumour that Fergie was prepared to patch things up with Ruud last week. I think Ruud has been positive about Man U since this came out and think Fergie's also looked at what money he'll get for him and therefore what he can spend and to get a player who'll get 20 goals a season and probably better to keep him and use the money elsewhere.

Shevchenko is the same age and would've cost a fortune, he's only gone to Chelsea for the money! It would have been a terrible piece of business

www.manutd.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=337804&itype=466&icategoryid=365Van: I'll Stay At United Ruud van Nistelrooy is ready to kick-off next season at United. The Dutch ace has made his peace with manager Sir Alex Ferguson and remains intent on seeing out the remaining two years of his contract. Ferguson has had a long phone conversation with van Nistelrooy from his holiday villa in the South of France. The upshot was that van Nistelrooy got his wish - to stay at United. Bill Thornton, Daily Star --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope it's true.
