Manchester United have given Ecuador tips on how to dump England out of the World Cup. Old Trafford No 2 Carlos Queiroz passed on secrets about Sven Goran Eriksson’s players to Ecuador boss Luis Suarez two weeks before the finals. Suarez, 46, spent an entire day being briefed at United’s Carrington training ground and will get the chance to put the advice into practice on Sunday when the teams meet in Stuttgart in the second round. Colombian Suarez wrote to Chelsea, Liverpool and United seeking a masterclass on how to beat European teams. United were the only club to reply. Fellow Spanish speaker Queiroz is believed to have given a lowdown on tactics and the physical demands of European football.
