Right, Ive been reading various websites, United supporters flapping their wings and im annoyed, People are complaining about us not signing 'world class' players, to be honest, i trust SAF judgment, hes signed some absolute gems, not based on their names and who wernt truely world class, the Dane, Yorke, Solskjaer, anyway, the list is endless, what happens when you sign people for their name and so the fans think, yay we got someone??? Veron happens, people talk about us and say we will end up signing average players, A player can only be as good as the club he is at, example, Carrick, rated even when he was in a team who finished 5th, while Spurs arent bad, Carrick will be more effective at United, hence making him NON average, Who wasnt rated ATALL? Solsjkaer, became a ledgend, was he saught after and claimed world class? NO Other players who wernt truely world class when signed: Ferdinand > Leeds Lampard > Chelsea Lennon > Spurs (Though not wolrd class is looking to be a gem at 1 mill) There are more but i cant be bothered and you all know them anyway, Point is, you can make a blinder of a sqaud made of 'average' players, you dont need a bunch of names to make a squad, Ronny wont go, we WILL get players but they wont be a bunch of world class players, i would rather build a squad of several good players who turn into a great squad working together, than buy a coupe of great names and hoping they settle in, with the chance of Veron syndrome, which could be the case with players such as Sheva. It just annoys me how people build the game on names now, when it never used to be, we will make a squad of the Inces and Pallisters, Nevilles and Scholes again, all of whom proved themselves from nowhere. Well unearth another Solskjaer, Yorke, Keane, Cantona, Schmeichel and it wont be by spending 20 mill on a rated player. I have full faith, and i dont mind not winning the prem next year, but building and improving and making a squad with excellent team chemistry that will work together and be a force for years to come, Keep the faith people

I don’t think anyone is under the illusion that we’re going to sign nothing but world class named players; I know I’m certainly not. But I won’t hide the fact that I’m frustrated and slightly worried about the fact that we’re not solidly linked with anyone.
Maybe it is only a matter of time, but I don’t think I’ve ever been so damn irritated at our transfers (or lack of) as I am this season.

Until the end of the month i'll settle on the opinon that SAF would have lost his job by now if no plan were in place to sign new players. Both Gill and even the Glazers can see what we need, there must be a plan and i personally think it all hinger on the Italian teams as it would compeltely change the market.

We are likely to see more Carrick news next week, as the Spurs chairman comes back from holiday and the world cup will finally be over. Fingers crossed that by the end of the month things will be looking good. Need something positive to happen after all the crap so far.

We also need to see how the Italian Scandal pans out, whether clubs will be relegated and willing/needing to sell. We are continuing to be linked with Torres ahead of other clubs, another positive. However, on the downside, we hear Ronnie may want to leave. If there's no significant signings in the midfield area by the end of July, then

There will be, for sure there will,
Even with Scholes back, SAF and co know who the other contenders have signed and also know that if last seasons team cant be contending for the title on the last day of the season, or be first, then the same team around even + Scholes wont do either,
Fergie isnt stupid, nor is he naive enough to think Fletcher, Pique etc, however much they may be sparkling for the future, be good enough to make that jump to being title challengers, we need a couple of players to bolster the midfield + Torres (whether Ruud leaves now or not doesnt matter, I love the guy but he pushing 30's door down!) and Torres is young...then in the next season or 2 he can work the youth into the squad, so in a few seasons we will have an extra 4/5 players, all young and have had games under their belt + are changing from prospects into genuine players, Rossi will replace Ruud and will be with Torres and Rooney, with more challenge for midfield and defence positions.
Its 100% unthinkable that we wont sign anyone, the OT lot will know that that would only have us competing for 3rd spot with a squad of players mixed between last seasons team and reserves to back them up.

There's no doubt a lot of sense in what you say but the trouble is all the news we've heard so far is bad. As of last night , Ronnie will go. I don't think SAF will let bygones be bygones with Ruud. So that's two down before we start. And at the back of everyone's minds - and this really is why the delay is so difficult for the fans - is that we're not really sure about the Glazers. Two years ago, I would have been happier to wait but now I'm just not sure. Can they afford it? Do they want to spend ANYTHING? All we've heard is that there is a kitty -allegedly £25 mill - and that the signings will be made before the WC. Well one was wrong, why should we believe the other? Yes we've had a lot of good buys. We've had some crap too, like as you say, Veron. But most of our success has come through from within. And that's not happening. I'm sure that a signing will come from either Italy or Germany with news soon and it will be when the scandal has sorted itself out in Italy (unless it's Fring!!!) simply because it would be such incredibly bad PR if they don't buy. And as a final moan - why does nobody on this forum rate Saha? Every team for the future excludes him after his performances at the end of last season were monumental. True he's not guaranteed for more than about 25 matches a season but the guy makes the whole team buzz especially Roo. He misses a few, but so did Andy Cole.

Chiff, i rate Saha, I like the guy alot, always have done (always boughthim in the early LMA and champ manager days!) but the fact is, he is injury prone, could we rely on him for an entire season, probably not, therefore he will be a great rotation striker.
