Patrice Evra says he needs to adapt his style of play to make his move from Monaco to Manchester United a success.
The 24-year-old Frenchman joined the Reds in January, but found it tough to immediately hold down a place in United's starting eleven.
But the left-back says he is acclimatising to the change from France's Ligue 1 to pace of the Premiership.
"Over the past few months I’ve learnt the style of play at United," he told MUTV. "I think that it was difficult because I've got my own style of play.
"It's not up to everyone else to suit my style of play, I’ve got to adapt to everyone else and I think that I’ve gradually been doing that."
Evra says a good showing in the forthcoming pre-season matches could earn him a place in the side.
"This pre-season is very, very important for me," he added. "I’ve always said that if you prepare well before the season then you'll have a good campaign."
Will be interesting to see him this season, he was being followed by a lot of big clubs all over europe.. must be something good coming through.

I'm looking forward to see Evra playing in the pre-season matches, now he has had a bit of time with the squad, I can see him doing well in these games.
I would imagine he won't get a great deal of chances next season unless he plays well in pre-season (due to gabby's return)
A few people have spoken about Evra having a few chances on the left wing next season?? not too sure about that one.....

Well, good to know that there are players who realise themselves that they have to adapt, Too many players seem to think and expect everyone else to adapt to them.

I feel sorry for players like Evra, he made his debut in a very hard game for any player to just walk into, then unfortunately the press start with the 'Fergies new Flop' without even giving him a chance. I honestly think his season will be based on his performance in the SA tour, hopefully he will do well push for a place in the team

I agree with you there mate, not every player makes an instant impact but I think he will work his way in, he seems determined and is a respectful player by his comments,
from what i know he seems more of an attack minded left back, I would love seeing him terrorise the wings, sprinting up and down munching people and getting balls in there
One thing though, what would happen to Gabby?

Can't see Evra EVER taking Heinzes place to be honest. Grass in his Evra (Citeh away) you would need CS Gas to stop Heinze I agree with you there mate, not every player makes an instant impact but I think he will work his way in, he seems determined and is a respectful player by his comments, from what i know he seems more of an attack minded left back, I would love seeing him terrorise the wings, sprinting up and down munching people and getting balls in there One thing though, what would happen to Gabby?

Ye but not complaining about competition, plus if Heinze gets injured etc

I can't see vra taking Gabby's place yet, but Evra is still quite young.
How about Gabby at left-back and Evra on the wing doing overlapping with there runs? I could see that working against medium teams with weak right sided midfielders
Do you think that could work?

Not sure, i know he can play left mid we would have to see, depends how good his crossing is really, but he is attack minded so perhaps, or maybe he will be rotated for a couple of seaons then replace Gabby, he will only be like 26 at that point anyway

I think he'll become our very own Ashley Cole in the next season or two, if he adapts. Was given a pretty unfair start against City I thought

Yeh, people expect way too much too quickly, theres also plastic fans requiring us to win all the time, but TBH we are in the process of building so it will take time but were getting there, add Carrick, Hargreaves and Torres and you have a great mix of experience and youth
Experience coming from NEVILLE Ferdinand Heinze Giggs Scholes
Youth of Carrick Rossi Torres Ronaldo ROONEY Hargreaves
With players with some of both Vidic Evra Saha
With players like Solskjaer behind the scenes
Its more attractive than Chelsea set up ALOT more

You got to remember he didnt cost that much either. So its not liked we signed him as a big star. He's there to be a squad player and offer more strength and depth.
I think he'll be a good signing.

Looks a bit of a liability when he comes on at left back (so far anyway) i'd like to see him on the wing in the Amsterdam Tournement, I think he looks more suited to that position!
