Ryan Giggs has emphasised the need to make a good start to the Premiership campaign.
The Reds dropped 12 points from 30 on offer in the first ten league matches in 2005/06, allowing Chelsea to notch up a commanding lead. Giggs is determined not to let that happen again and is raring to start the new campaign, now just six weeks away.
"We're excited about the new season," Giggs told MUTV. "We're really concentrating on getting our fitness right.
"We had a great run at the end of last season, but we didn’t get off to the best start, and ultimately I think that cost us in the end. Hopefully, we'll have everyone fit and ready for the start of this season.”
This time the Welshman is confident United have the players - and perhaps more importantly the maturity of those players - to be consistent and compete with the Premiership's top teams.
"We've got the players we know that," he said. "We've just got to be consistent and get off to a good start because we don't want to be playing catch-up to Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool."

A few weeks ago people were unsure about our fixtures, having the hardest four at home in the first half of the season, but this is gonna help us so much with the crappy starts we usually have, take them on at home and get a good start... Then when your in full swing second half of the season should be able to get a win.

If we can win all the hard games at the start, well be flying, with them chasing us so we have amental advantage, its just important to get those wins against the top clubs right away

I am very optomistic about the new season. We did exceptionaly well last year when you consider all the upheaval surrounding Kean and the injury list was massive at times. A makeshift midfield got us to within a whisker of the Chavs. We'll have um this year ........ I'm champing at the bit. Like your all sayin' we need to hit the floor running.

love Giggsy and he's absolutely right, we have to come out strong and not let the rent boys run away with it again.
