Paul Scholes is confident of getting his Manchester United career back on track, after being absent for five months last season through injury.
The 31-year-old midfielder began complaining of blurred vision after picking up a head injury at the end of 2005, which initially baffled doctors.
But he returned to the fold for the last game of the campaign against Charlton Athletic and for Roy Keane's testimonial.
Though he is yet to complete a full 90 minutes of football this year, he has made good progress and was optimistic ahead of the team's pre-season three-match tour of South Africa.
"I have been training for over a week now and there have been no problems," he told MUTV.
"Those two games at the end of last season have given me confidence because going into those matches, I wasn't quite sure how I would feel.
"But I was okay and I have improved even more over the summer so the future looks good."
Sir Alex Ferguson's men kick off against Orlando Pirates in Durban on Saturday and former England international Scholes is hopeful some of his young team-mates can make a significant impact at Old Trafford this season.
"There will be quite a few young players on this tour and they have to try and really impress," Scholes added.
"The aim of everyone on this trip is to be in the starting line-up for that first game."
United begin their Premiership assault against Fulham at home on August 20, live on PremPlus.

It was great seeing him at the end of the season, to watch him link up with Giggs again, and make those tremendous passes and runs. He’s the one good thing I’m looking forward to next season.

Not only is getting Scholesy back in the middle exciting, but getting giggs back out on the left wing and getting his 10 or so goals he usually contributes.. as well as the much improved service to RVN etc. which we've blatantly missed out on a lot.

Cant wait. Scholes looked really sharp against Charlton and in Roys testimonial, which is incredible considering he hadn't played for months. Hope he really finds his feet in South Africa, and comes back raring to go. He had a poor first couple of months last season, hope it's a different story this year.

He will, he will have something to prove to himself, he should play like he did a couple of years ago, though i wouldnt rely on 10 goals from giggs

A fit and ready Scholesy is like a new signing to United, as is the return of Heinzé. If we had those players last season I believe we could have added 6-9 points on our league tally.
