Bolton Wanderers are closing on the signing of Manchester United utility man Quinton Fortune.
The 29-year-old has been a target for manager Sam Allardyce since it was revealed he would leave The Red Devils in the summer.
However, a move to The Reebok Stadium looked to have fallen through when interest from Manchester City and Celtic surfaced.
Bolton revived their interest in Fortune when neither club secured the player's signature and offered him the chance to earn a contract with the club.
The South African international has been training with The Trotters in Switzerland to prove his fitness and Allardyce is expecting him to put pen-to-paper on a deal in the near future.
"Quinton Fortune, without any question, would be a top player for us if he stays fit," Allardyce told the club's official website. "He has had a few injuries based on his record over the past two years.
"He has done himself a real favour by committing to our training regime to prove his fitness.
"I am hopeful that everything will go to plan and we will sign him on a permanent basis." ---------------
I’m glad he’s looking to go to our neighbours in Bolton, rather than City. He’ll be a good addition, though you watch City come sniffing like they did with Hamann.

Rather see him at Bolton than in a Citeh shirt. If the lad goes, hope he does well and he's happy and all that.

I hope he does go to Bolton, I think he'd do well there, he's a bit young for them though.

I've always liked Fortune very similiar to P Neville and Butt. May not be world class but he was never found lacking in the effort dept. which is always good. Shame he didn't sign for Celtic, Good Luck to him never the less.......

Thank God he never chose City. I wish him Good Luck and I hope he succeeds at Bolton, I've always wanted them to do well now I've got more reason for that!...
