today on eurosport there was a u19 match of scotland vs spain.. i must say gerard pique was def. the best player on the field he even managed goal in which he headed home a cross with phenominal accuracy. he was graceful and calm when defending and precise and quick in attack.. its hard for a defender to be rated as the best player in the world but just watching him and knowing he is only 19 it gave me hope and pride to kno that he plays for our club...
hah hes also sporting a buzz and goatee so you may not recognize him much.
more importanty he deserves a chance at XI but our defense is solid... if he stays on the reserve team for next few years i think we are wasting a solid talent that could become one of the best.. i am that impressed by him

If not i think you should take a look www.manutd.com

what SAF said was that young players make mistakes and you cant do that for a top team. so in a mercenary way go and make those mistakes on loan, the team you go to will benefit from your talent and any mistakes you make would have been made by their more experienced players anyway.
i rate pique as much as i do bardsley but bardsley gives cover in a non critical area so can fill in when gaz is injured / rested

I do think that Pique is a very good defender, he's reads the game well, is a good passer of the ball and is good in the air.
Anytime, i've seen him play in first team games he hasn't disgraced himself, he did well towards the end of last season when Ferguson played him.

with rio, wes & vidic we dont dont need inexperienced cover. we also have a number of other players that can go there (gaz, o'shea, silvestre, heinze of fthe top of my head) so pique will only get carling cup games unless the arsenal cook does our food at the team hotel

players dont simply become the greats because they are talentedl... at somepoint in thier career someone decided... im gonna give him a chance.... how they take that oppurunity may decide their career right then and their, even in one match... and i think with this youngster its worth the risk.

i rate pique too.his passing is top notch.espeacily long balls.good positional sense good in the air also. a season on loan will do him the world of good.just hope he goes to a decent side so as not to damage his confidence too much. he needs to fill out up top before he can be considerd first team regular.an oaf like drogba would murder him right now.

I reckon when the time is right Fergie will make way for him like he's done before, perhaps get rid of Silvestre and O' Shea..... either way there's nowhere better for Pique to improve than under SAF and at United. I rate him as much as Rossi but like Unitedinhardcore said the difference is Rossi can afford to make the odd mistake when he's playing bcos he'll get away with it whereas Pique cant

Agreed that it is tougher to allow defenders to make mistakes as opposed to other positions. I think there's a bright future for him at OT and if that means that he goes on loan to another team (in the Prem) to hone his skills then so be it as everyone will benefit. I just hope that he's one of the youngsters that will end up replacing one of our defenders one day.

I'm positive he will end up on the first team one day. He is not ready yet though, and at the moment we don't need him to be. Give him a season or two playing on loan with preferly a premiership side, to help him pick up the English game even better and improve his routine, and then he might be ready.

after seeing some highlights online of the u19 game(it wasn't on tv in the states), and seeing him towards the end of last season, i believe 100% that he will be on teh first team, and i firmly believe that he should get a chance.

Defenders because of the physical side of there job have got to be fully grown before they become top players think back to how pallister struggled when he first came to us, he was gangly and awkward and made plenty of mistakes but with experience and physically getting stronger he turned into one of the best centre halves we have had, the same will happen with pique when he fills out
