Too late now Paul. He would have been ideal in the World Cup. Cant see him being much use to England in 08.

this is a bit premature. Scholes was a great player, but he hasn't played well consistently for 3 years now. Some of it's injuries, some of it is just poor form. He needs to play well for us before he even considers going back for England. I reckon that storyy is bollocks anyway.

Scholes on double mission BACK IN ACTION: Paul Scholes in South AfricaPAUL Scholes is on a double mission to rediscover his United form and re-ignite his England career. The 31-year-old has bounced back from his five-month exile after his eye problem with his batteries fully-charged. "I was bored and frustrated being out so long last season. Now I just want to play as much football as possible," Scholes admitted in South Africa after being forced onto the sidelines last December with his mystery eye complaint. Clearly Scholes' appetite has been rekindled and now that the Sven-Goran Eriksson era is over, he is believed to be considering a U-turn if new England coach Steve McClaren wants him. Scholes quit the international scene in the summer of 2004 following a disappointing European Championships in Portugal. The United player had become the victim of Eriksson's midfield shuffling and desperation to solve the left-side of midfield problem. It left Scholes frustrated and feeling wrongly used in the England set-up. So instead of jetting around the globe for internationals, he announced his England retirement at the premature age of 29 and with 66 caps to his name saying he preferred to spend more time with his young family. But with the Eriksson factor out of the England equation Scholes will consider returning. Former Reds' No2 McClaren begins his new career as England coach a week tomorrow and it could signal the start of another glorious era for the United ginger genius. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/manchesterunited/s/218/218748_scholes_on_double_mission.html

Hopefully he can stay fit for next season, he's an exceptional player and it's of no coincidence we have fell behind the Chavs when we missed the Ginger Ninja
