A lot of the best player's have been up their own arse, Cantona, Henry. Yes, he's not achieved anything near what they have and he'll have to work extremely hard to do that. But some players have that trait which makes them try the things they do. If he never had that attitude he wouldn't be the same player. I dont think you can compare Cantona and Henry's attitude to Ronaldo's. Firstly, because they are/were the best, and so theyre allowed to have their head up their arse. And secondly, they loved/love their club. Whatever we want to say about Henry (and I hate him lol) he loves Arsenal. (and I dont believe thats the only reason why he stayed, obviously, stage fright too). Ronaldo loves himself more than he'll love any team.

True, but it's a trait many of the best players have that they wanna be showman, entertainers and more often that not it doesn't work out for Ronaldo but I believe it will come with experience. Players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Henry, etc need the confidence/arrogance/ego/headuparseness to try some of the things they do...

Lets compare Ronaldo and Ronaldinho:
1) Not many people had heard of Ronaldinho (or Henry, Ballack, etc.) at the age of 21 let alone the age of 18 when Ronaldo broke through and became famous on the world stage
2) If you did not watch football on a regular basis and had just seen the World Cup, you would think Ronaldo is ten times a better player than Ronaldinho is, and that is on the worlds biggest stage, meaning that Ronaldo can handle the pressure and if he can learn to control his skills can become better than Ronaldinho. I mean Ronaldinho has never really produced his club form on the biggest stages (World cups, CL Final) whereas Ronaldo has always shone when the pressure is on and it matters (latter stages of Euros, World Cup).
All this points to Ronaldo one day being able to surpass Ronaldinho (who is generally considered the best in the world) and under Fergie I think he will be able to do it.

Ronaldo must be hugely frustrating player to play with at times. I wonder what his team mates really think of him? Rudd certainly didn't get on with him heh! You certainly can not deny that he has all the skills and potential to be the best, however, its the team thats important, not the individual and IFhis antics ( trickery and gamesmanship ) have a detrimental effect on the team....then it becomes a problem. For me, you have to put your trust in the professionals at the club to influence change in the young player, but I have wondered at times if we would be better without him, but the feeling usually passes. Ronaldo is not yet the finished article and I for one hope he stays and that fergie instills him with a little bit more of the right stuff.

It's down to players like Rio and Giggs, the experienced to keep on at him during the game if they feel he's not doin his bit or takin the p!ss. ive seen Smithy and Roo have goes at him on the pitch. You think he'd be uncontrolable if Keano was out there I very much doubt it Ronaldo must be hugely frustrating player to play with at times. I wonder what his team mates really think of him? I don't understand Gary N on this. I'd be more frightened of him and he's captain after all.

all im saying is that at 21 hes still maturing into himself, ok hes not a teen and can be a whinger but I wouldnt want all the attention, fame, etc etc etc he has had since being 18, I just think the article was a tad harsh on him considering there arent many 21 year olds with the pressure (all be it put on themselves or not 21 isnt mature enough to deal with this stuff week after week correctly)

Ronaldo likes to put on a show, we know that, but what we need for him to do is use his ability to get around defenders so that he can create chances for our strikers. If he can get around 3 defenders GREAT, now cross the ball (or pass it) so that someone can score if he doesn't have a shot. If he can find that balance he will be an amazing player for us.
