A lot of correspondence has been written about Ronny. Will he go? Will he stay? I still don't know and I think IF we got Torres he may go. But assuming he stays, what an important player he will be for us next season. Lets cut the crap about him being immature. Sorry Ronny but I'm not buying that anymore. You've just played in the World Cup Finals; you've masses of Prem experience now plus CL. Immature is for kids like Rossi. If we have a young side, you're an old hand. We need you as the link to bring these lads forward. They'll follow you because they can see that you were like them only a couple of years ago. So stop acting. I'm not talking WC, I'm talking big sulks cos' you didn't get a free kick. And that amble back after you've lost it by overdoing the tricks. What we want from you is the man you've got to be. So do your thing. You're probably the best in the Prem at it. But remember that it's going to go wrong and let's have some fight to get it back. If all your yellows were for agression of the foot instead of the mouth, arms and general demeanour, it'd be OK. And for god's sake, if you don't get a free kick for your 2 somersaults with pike, accept it and get the bloody ball back. At your best, you're a screamer. At your worst you make 67000 (76000?) scream. We want and NEED you - don't let us down
and if you can't - p...s off NOW

A bit ott and in the light of things he is still immature, he might have experience but his head is young and he has a lot to learn, just because he is more advanced than a lot his age, dont take that as a reason to say, well your better thana lot so you havent got any more growing to do mentally etc hes still a kid, however many matches hes played, hes a kid....

You're probably right but unfortunately when you play Prem in front of a full house, there isn't a guy in the stands that says " ah he's young - we'll give Utd 0.5 goals to allow for it" There isn't a handicap system, he's there on merit. It would be wonderful if he and Rooney were, at their age , able to play in gradually. WELL THEY'RE NOT. England expected a lot from Rooney; at club level on the contract he's on, I expect great performances. I do agree that it won't be week in and week out but I want to see the signs - it looks as though we're going to need them!

I get ya point the only thing these days I think is people want so much from such youth, the age bar is being lowered, peake ages are being lowered and players are bcoming the worlds best at early twenties, how long will it be until we are saying the same thing about 17 year old? At the end of the day Ronaldo is still only old enough to be at university and while we expect alot and he can give alot, hes still very young and yes, immature in life perspective, thats why i give him a break, when hes 25 he will get no such sympathy form me, but the lads still just a kid so im willing to give him some more time

How old is Ronaldo, 21? Excuse me, but, how is being 21 a kid? Ok so it is your early 20’s, yada ya, but in the work place if you continue to FAF about, moan, whinge because you don’t get things your own way, you will get suspended/fired, I don’t see why football should be any different.
He will not get any leniency from some of ours fans, and A LOT of away fans, they will boo and hiss him until they’ve had their orgasms and moved on. But hopefully he will only grow stronger from it.

In fairness i dont think Ronaldo whinges and moans more than anyone else on our team. Whats the point of this thread why criticise one of our best players. There's always flaws in all good players i dont see why everyone's moaning about Ronaldo more

We just need to think about whether Ronaldo has the capabilities to change. He rates himself more highly than anyone else does or ever will, and whilst he walks around thinking he's gods gift to football, he's not working on how to improve his general game. His skills have left me breathless at times. The way he takes the piss out of great teams and great players is just amazing (leaving Ashley Cole, the 2nd best left back in the world, on his arse, when Ronnie was just a teenager!) but that alone isnt good enough.
My mates missus who works at Old Trafford says he's not a nice guy. Doesnt go through his mail (he pays my mates lad £2000 a year to read and reply his mail), doesnt want to do the charity stuff, complains when he has to. A few months ago a disabled children's school group game to OT for the tour, and there were a few players around, Ronaldo, O'Shea, Giggs and someone else (cant remember now)... and they were asked just to go and say hello, sign a few autographs, but Ronaldo just buggered off. Thats just one of many stories she's told me about him.
I hope he will change, but lets be honest, hes not going to spend his entire career with us, and so I dont think we will ever see the finished article, if anyone ever gets to.

I don't think he's that bad. I'm only saying that though because my mate who works in the South Stand boxes got my shirt signed by him and the lads...
I don't think he'll be at United for the rest of his career, but he's an excellent player and I'm proud to have him at United!

Dont take this the wrong way but did you think that of him before the world cup or where you one of the people who saw sense.... i cant remember I think we've all known since day one what Ronaldo is about. Incredibly talented, but up his own arse. The World Cup didnt teach us anything new about Ronaldo, I dont think. He's always played better for Portugal than he has for us, he's always put them first... I'm glad he plays for United, because he can be great, and he pisses off all our opposition, but he'll never have the heart of a United player, and I think we all knew that.

A lot of the best player's have been up their own arse, Cantona, Henry. Yes, he's not achieved anything near what they have and he'll have to work extremely hard to do that. But some players have that trait which makes them try the things they do. If he never had that attitude he wouldn't be the same player.

Good points Scott and Chiff. It's certainly true that a lot is expected of young players, and they're put into situations where they have to put aside their personal feelings and think of the team rather than themselves. I wonder if with Ronaldo it's not so much a matter of immaturity but of being more self involved and wanting to shine instead of having a team mentality. Now I for one think his ability on the ball is great, but we all know he needs to work on converting that ability into more scoring opportunities for himself and the strikers; I can't imagine him not seeing this as he's the one on the pitch. There are some players that are showboaters, and actually he reminds me of an NBA basketball player doing fancy tricks around the the defenders but gets too wrapped up in what he's doing to see the open man with the scoring opportunity. If he can balance his desire to put on a nice show of dribbling skills along with providing good service to the forwards he will be the player we need him to be. I don' think he'll be here too much longer but I think being a great player is not only your individual skill but how that skill works to improve the performance of the other 10 players. I look forward to seeing Ronaldo develop and become a truly great player and perhaps we'll reap that reward before he goes elsewhere.

An example of a player similar was Ronaldinho. At 21 he was arguably greedier than Ronaldo, I believe Fergie is the man to change Ronaldo for the better. (Even Mrs. Ronaldo think's the same!)
