UNITED defemder Mikael Silvestre has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The French defender dislocated his shoulder in the final stages of last week's Champions League win over Lille but Sir Alex Ferguson claimed last week that the former Inter Milan player would not be sidelined for too long. With Chelsea's Khaled Boulahrouz as a guide, there was even some suggestion Silvestre would be back in action before United tackled AS Roma on April 4. However, Reds officials have now confirmed the injury is far worse than initially feared. "Mikael's right shoulder required surgery to stabilise the joint," said a United spokesman. "He will be back in training in three months." Useful Although Silvestre was not a regular starter for United this term, mustering just 21 appearances, the 29-year-old is a particularly useful member of Ferguson's squad given his ability to play both in central defence and left-back. At a time when injuries have decimated the Reds strikeforce, with both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Louis Saha out until the end of the month and Henrik Larsson heading back to Sweden after the charity game at Old Trafford, suddenly Ferguson's defence is being attacked as well. First choice central defensive pairing Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic were both ruled out of the carnival game against Marcello Lippi's European XI, which United won 4-3. Happily for the United boss, neither Ferdinand, who had scans on a rib problem, nor Vidic, who needed to have blood drained from his nose, are a doubt for Saturday's home encounter with Bolton. However, veteran keeper Edwin van der Sar will miss the Trotters clash and Monday's FA Cup quarter-final replay with Middlesbrough at Old Trafford after suffering a calf strain during his warm-up at the Riverside.
I hate to say it about a United player, but im glad. I know a lot of people here may think I slate Silvestre too much but I just panic when I see his name on the teamsheet. He is useless so as long as he is out, Fergie can't pick him. We have got to get rid.
I agree with you same as I would if said about Richardson.

What is this I hear about Ronnie being injured??? WTF?! Ronaldo injury scare for Portugal and UnitedBELGRADE, March 27 (Reuters) - Cristiano Ronaldo is doubtful for Portugal's Euro 2008 Group A qualifier in Serbia on Wednesday after injuring his left heel in training. 'At this time we don't know if he (Ronaldo) will play,' team doctor Onofre Costa told reporters on Tuesday. 'He sprained his heel. 'It doesn't look very serious but we are not sure if he will be fit.' The Manchester United winger had ice strapped round his ankle and heel after twisting his foot and limping off the pitch. Portugal are third in the eight-team group, level on 10 points from five matches with fourth-placed Serbia. Poland are top with 13 points from six matches followed by Finland with 11 from five.

Neville Out For Three More Weeks
"The swelling has only just gone down on his ankle, so the injury was maybe a bit worse than we thought in terms of the swelling," said Ferguson. "But he's been doing some good work in the gym and I expect him to be back in the first team in three weeks' time."
VDS and Ole Back
"Edwin and Ole are both fit and their experience will be vital for us during this last period of the season."
Fletcher Back In 2 Weeks
"Darren Fletcher has been training very well. He's moved on to football training now having regained full fitness which is terrific.
"The original prognosis wasn't great, but he's doing very well now and we expect him to be back in two weeks."
