Martin returns to Manchester
United's loan midfielder Lee Martin is to have a knee injury assessed by club's medical staff.
The 19-year-old winger, who is currently enjoying a spell with Rangers, has been struggling with the injury for three weeks now, and could miss next week's Uefa Cup trip to Livorno.
"He has been troubled by this for three weeks after taking a knock on his knee and I am little bit worried," Rangers boss Paul Le Guen told the club's website.
"Our doctor will work in conjunction with Manchester United."
Rangers are already without injured wingers Chris Burke and Libor Sionko for the Uefa Cup group stage opener in Italy.
"It does leave us short of wingers," Le Guen added. "It is bad luck, but we must keep our head up and keep working."
Martin isn't the only United loanee recuperating at Carrington, team-mate Adam Eckersley has also returned from his spell with Brondby after tearing a hamstring.
Boss Rene Meulensteen told ManUtd.com: "I was pleased that Adam could come on loan to us but because of injury he was only able to play one full league game.
"He has now a tear in his hamstring which will keep him out for several weeks, and that's a shame because he enjoyed his stay with Brondby.
"I hope there will still be an opportunity for Adam to come and play for us." -----------

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed a number of his Manchester United stars have returned from international duty with minor knocks.
The Scottish tactician had the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Louis Saha on show for their respective countries in Euro 2008 qualifiers and while Saha is fit, Ronaldo is doubtful to play at The JJB on Saturday.
"We've got a couple of bumps and bruises we have to attend to. Hopefully they'll be fit for tomorrow," explained Ferguson ahead of the trip to Wigan.
"(Saha's) fine. He had 60 minutes on Wednesday night. He's fit. No problem.
"Some players come back injured and you have to accept that. They are internationals there is nothing you can do about that. Hopefully we'll have a team to get us a result.
"We're in a good position, top of the league, and we want the stay there. The form of the team, in particularly in the last game against Newcastle, is superb.
"In that game, the intensity of the performance for the 90 minutes was excellent, it never stopped."
Ronaldo is more of a worry for Ferguson and the experienced tactician is hoping swelling in his ankle will have reduced sufficiently for him to line up against The Latics.
"He got an ankle knock in the second half (against Poland). He's getting treatment today," he added. "We want to give him a chance if we possibly can.
"He kept on for more than 30 minutes with the ankle injury which although it was not a serious ankle injury, none the less playing with it has created a bit of swelling and we have to try and get rid of that."
United welcomed back Ryan Giggs to training this week following a hamstring strain, although the trip to Wigan, live on Sky Sports 1, is likely to come too soon for the Welsh wizard.
Ferguson is not ruling out Giggs playing some role against The Latics, but believes Tuesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Copenhagen will be a more realistic target.
"He's trained the last few days," said Ferguson. "It may be a bit early and with a game on Tuesday I think there is more of a focus on that.
"He's certainly travelling with us tomorrow. It's good to have him back." -----------

UNITED TRIO BACK IN THE FRAYSky SportsManchester United look set to welcome a trio of injured defenders back for the Liverpool match on Sunday. Experienced stoppers Gabriel Heinze, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville all sat out United's 3-0 victory over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Ferdinand and veteran winger Ryan Giggs both pulled out of the team just minutes before kick-off, but boss Sir Alex Ferguson insists he is hopeful about all the club's walking wounded.
"We will have to wait to see the extent of Ferdinand's injury but Ryan will be okay, it was just sickness," Ferguson explained.
"Heinze is training well and I think he has an outside chance for Sunday. He's in full training now in terms of rehabilitation and running.
"We have also wanted to give Gary Neville a full week's training before the Liverpool match."
Should Ferdinand recover from his cricked neck in time, he looks set to replace Wes Brown in the back four, alongside last season's new signings Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra.
The duo have shown good form so far this season, and Ferguson attributes the improvements both men have shown to added time in the team.
"You're now seeing the results of Nemanja and Patrice playing over six months of football with us," Ferguson stated.
"They now have a good understanding of the way we play and the English game, plus they know the other players better.
"Nemanja is such a brave lad, he's not afraid to stick his head in; he's like Brucey [Steve Bruce] in that sense."
Ferguson told MUTV: "Patrice is also a gutsy lad. He makes the odd mistake at times simply because he's so keen, but overall he's coming on great."
With Liverpool currently languishing in 11th in the table United will be anxious to continue their good start and maintain their title charge at the top of the table.---------Ah, players returning, that’s what I like to see.

Usually they would have made an annoucement by now if it were bad so finger crossed it was just a knock. At least an injury struck our most covered position though Evra has been playing awesome so far this season.
