We've got Brown and Bardsley - but I agree we need a world class long term replacement as Brown is not a world class right back and Bardsley is still too young.

neville out again, we have got to start looking for a long term replacement as he seems to be picking up more and more injuries, Yeah we do, I don't know whether we intend to try and give it a few more years until Simpson or Bardsley are ready to make a go of it, as that could be a risky tactic if he ever got a long term injury

Sir Alex Ferguson admits that Gary Neville's calf injury is a cause of some concern.
The defender has been ruled out of Manchester United's trip to Copenhagen on Wednesday after the problem flared up following the weekend win over Bolton.
Ferguson has revealed that Neville has been carrying the problem since the World Cup finals in the summer and is worried it could turn into something more serious.
"It is a difficult one," admitted Ferguson. "We could have played him but I am worried the recovery from Saturday's game is short, so we decided to give him more training.
"If the injury keeps recurring we have a problem, so we need to try and nip it in the bud now to ensure when he comes back into the team he is 100 percent fit.
"We don't want him playing, then needing treatment. That is the way you pick up other injuries." ---------

I hope this doesn't turn into a major problem because we don't really have the cover for him, Brown and O'Shea can play there but they don't offer the same qualities Nev does and it would be a big miss, plus he's our captain.

Fergie relief at Solskjaer newsSIR Alex Ferguson was relieved to discover that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's injury was a hamstring strain rather than a recurrence of his knee problem. Ferguson must do without the veteran striker for the foreseeable future after he limped off in the final minute of United's 1-0 defeat against FC Copenhagen. However, while upset at the absence of the Norwegian, Ferguson was thankful the damage was not more serious. "It's unfortunate for Ole," he said. "It is a hamstring and he will be out for a few weeks. But I am actually quite happy. "Given his previous history of knee problems, I was a bit concerned when he came off but, fortunately, it is only a hamstring. Copenhagen can now qualify for the knockout round themselves having finally scored a Champions League goal and recorded a result coach Stolle Sollbakken had predicted prior to the game. "I didn't think either side would score more than one," said the former Wimbledon player. "United created more chances that us and we did need to ride our luck. But I thought they would run over us in the final 10 minutes, but it didn't happen. "We still need another miracle against Benfica in three weeks' time but, if we can get through that, I am confident about beating Celtic in our final game."

Hopefully Ole will bounce back from this quickly. He's been such an asset to us thus far and given us more options in our attack.

Solskjaer faces several weeks out
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be out for several weeks after hurting a hamstring in Manchester United's Champions League defeat by FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.
The striker had only just returned from a two-year lay-off with knee problems.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told the club website: "It's unfortunate for Ole but I am actually quite happy.
"Given his previous history of knee problems, I was a bit concerned but, fortunately, it is only a hamstring. He will be out for a few weeks." ---------

Calf injury aside there has to be some planning going on in regards to replacing our core players. Giggs, Scholes and Nev aren't going to be playing forever.

yeah i knw...i really want Park to recover fast n also i'd like us to bring in some young blood like Adu (i know what you think, but I am not going to cross him off till we see how good he will be for us). Our young's academy also needs to produce some good lads...i bet Fergie knows this and is pulling all stops to find the talent he wants

Me too, I want Park to get fit quick cos we're seriously lacking an all round work horse... On the right back issue, I hope January sees us bring in a world class or potentially world class replacement for Neville, cos lately he's spending more time with the physio than he is with the team.. I hear some of the Dutch kids are good. Italians will be good but a sane Italian footballer would never come to England. Anyone got any favorites for the right back position?

John Toshack has revealed Ryan Giggs picked up an ankle knock during Wales' 4-0 success over Liechtenstein.
The Manchester United winger was replaced at half time at The Racecourse Ground after a bright first-half performance.
"We made a few changes at half time as Ryan got a knock on the ankle," Toshack told Sky Sports 1. "His presence in midfield is always important. ---------
