I am planning to order a new United book on amazon. I already have Behind the Scenes at Manchester United ( season 2006/2007 ) and also Ronaldo`s book Moments. Do you guys have any suggestions on what should I order? I really don`t want to buy something and then realise that it`s totally sh*te. Thanks everyone

It's nice to have a book discussion on the list. I'm addicted to football biographies and histories. I echo Coogie's recommendation on Roy's autobiography. And if it gets you interested in the Saipan incident, Red Mist: Roy Keane and the Irish World Cup Blues is really excellent. This Is The One: Sir Alex Ferguson, The Uncut Story of a Football Genius, by Daniel Taylor www.amazon.co.uk/This-One-Ferguson-Football-Genius/dp/1845132750/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206356989&sr=1-2Excellent read, funny, insightful, unbiased. A journalist's view of two seasons covering SAF during the 2005--06, and 2006-07 seasons. We're The Famous Man United: Old Trafford in the 80s - the Players' Story, by Andy Mitten www.amazon.co.uk/Were-Famous-Man-United-Trafford/dp/1905326149/ref=pd_ys_ir_b_15Great anecdotes and history, pre-Alex. Sir Bobby's book "My Manchester United Years", of course. www.amazon.co.uk/Manchester-United-Years-Bobby-Charlton/dp/0755316193/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206357422&sr=1-13There are lots of ghost-written autobiographies of players around, but I enjoyed Brian McClair's, Odd Man Out, A Player's Diary. www.amazon.co.uk/Odd-Man-Out-Manchester-official/dp/0233991158/ref=sr_1_35?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206357475&sr=1-35Those should get you going.

Thank you coogie and Jak! I am really thinking about buying Keano`s bio. And McClair˙s bio seems intersting as well.

That was an astonishing book. Best I read last year, football or otherwise. Keano's, Fergies (Managing my life i think?) and Dunphy's Strange kind of glory are all good. Bestie by Joe Lovejoy is excellent too.

Here I go bringing old threads back from the dead. However, this is a good one to keep relatively active. ------------------ Just finished 'Red, White and Blackmore' by Wayne Barton, the one who's writing the new Jimmy Murphy book. He's a United supporter, he gets it and would be willing to discuss the book with our supporters. Thought the read was light, humorous and tells the story as it is. From the FAYC to gaining experience on the senior levels, the book does its job and I highly recommend it. waynebartonbooks.com/red-white-blackmore-release-information/
