In my opinion, Ronaldo is one of the best players around at the minute. His work ethic for the team was outstanding in the CL and i hear it was outstanding today, proving to be a vital part in the Rooney goal.

Great result today, I couldn't watch the game but I've read the match report and it sounds like Ronaldo did an outstanding job as well as Rooney. Good to have them both in form right now. And with Saha still scoring I think we're in great shape. Can't wait for the Arse Chelski game tomorrow. C'mon Arse. (Can't believe I just said that. )

Ronnie was immense today, City swarmed him every time he got on the ball in the first 10 minutes and the one time he was left for about 2 seconds with 3 people near him he put in a world class cross for Rooney to score.

City were shite in the first half, less shite in the second half, but still shite. United were good in the first half, not as good in the second, but still a mile better than City. There wasnt a single City fan complaining about the result in my local this afternoon (and most of them want United to win the league!!)
Didnt really see what happened for Saha's goal. Rooney's was class... had goal written all over it, brilliant ball from Ronaldooooo. Glad we got the third to kill off the game. Carrick was really good again today. Saha wasnt good enough, lost the ball far too easily.
Today was a weird derby. I didnt care who our opposition were, I didnt care how many goals were scored, as long as we got the three points. And we did. 9 points clear, have that Roman Abromovich.
United, TOP OF THE LEAGUE, United United top of the league

Pretty much sums it up for me. Although how come Saha and Giggs were booed by some of our fans? Anybody know. Or was I hearing things?

It was a good performance all in all. Not by our usual standard but over the last couple of weeks we have had plenty of games, i hoped we wouldn't seem tired or have CL hang-over. Well at least theres 8 days till our next game. City played with heart but had little cutting edge to really worry us. We played most of the game in 3rd gear, occasionally hitting 5th for a minute at a time. As one commentator said a true quality of champions is being able to easily beat teams whilst not playing at your best. Which we did, convincingly. We're storming through into xmas. Hopefully we might even have Park on the bench in a game or two I hate to say it, but cmon the gunners. Get a draw at least.

Well we made it hard for ourselves by trying to see the game out in the 2nd half. Again we should ahve had more goals, not sure what happened w/ Saha in front of the open goal... In the end a win and 3 goals will do nicely.

Sir Alex Ferguson saluted his team's endeavour and effort following the 3-1 derby victory over Manchester City.
Goals from Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha and Cristiano Ronaldo secured three points for the Reds and took them nine points clear of Chelsea at the Premiership summit.
An excellent second half strike from Hatem Trabelsi gave the visitors a lifeline, but Ronaldo's 84th minute effort made sure of the victory, much to Sir Alex's delight.
"You have to earn the right to win these matches," insisted the United boss. "Just because you're at home and are top of the league doesn't mean you're just going to turn up and win. You have to earn the right and we did that.
"It was a typical derby game; there were moments when we should have punished them - we certainly had some fantastic opportunities to do that - and at other times in the game we had to really fight and scrap and Edwin van der Sar made two great saves.
"City are a big team and a difficult side to play against because they play a lot of high balls into the area. But we dealt with that."
After a hectic few weeks of fixtures, United now have a eight day break before their next game, away at West Ham next Sunday.
"We've had a tough spell over the last few weeks and more or less the same players have been involved in every game," he acknowledged. "We're therefore giving them a three day rest which they really deserve.
"The legs were going a bit towards the end of the game. We only had two and a half days to prepare for the match, whereas City had a full week to get ready for it.
"The television companies should be doing a bit better for us in that respect - it's a bit unfair to make us play a lunchtime game so soon after a Wednesday night match [against Benfica].
"But you saw the players' determination [to win the match] and when it really mattered they got on with things and finished the match off."
The United boss will be donning his Arsenal scarf for Sunday's clash between Chelsea and the Gunners at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea attempt to make up some ground on the Reds.
"Supporting Arsenal isn't something that happens very often but I'll be doing that on Sunday!" joked Sir Alex. "I expect it to be a tight and hard game between two great sides.
"I'm looking forward to watching it and hopefully by Monday morning we'll be in a better position."

Today was a weird derby. I didnt care who our opposition were, I didnt care how many goals were scored, as long as we got the three points. Yeah same here, i would have taken a scrappy goal (like Fergie would have against Benfica midweek.) just to go nine points clear. Talk about 2 games in hand all you want, but the psycological edge we can gain from this is just as important.

It's been good to see us win gmaes that last season we would have drawn.
Carrick was brilliant, never caught in possession.
And I heard Ryan Giggs got MOTM. Were people watching the same game as me?
