You can say that about Heinzé who consistently gives the ball away, Vidic was at fault for the goal we conceded vs. Citeh where he went AWOL and was in the left back position..Rio's been our best defender this season yet he's always overlooked because of the great impact Vida's had.

Rio has been good this season, although had a dodgy one the other weak.
A brilliant defender he has been, but God knows it took him long enough. Of course he is going to be over looked, we paid an arm and a leg to get him, and he has been getting more than he has been worth in the past each week. It took him untill last january to become consistant, he deserves to be overlooked, because he has a hell of a lot of lazyness and stupidity to make up for.

Yes, he is prone to a few mistakes but I've seen other players at United get away with things like that because they're "the fans' favourite" e.g. Heinzé, Vidic, Giggs, Rooney, Scholes, etc and I'm not taking a pop at them but I find it unfair that everything the likes of Rio and Fletcher do is magnified and moaned about non stop - Heinzé makes many more mistakes than Rio but nothing is ever said.

Rio has been doing those mistakes for years, of course other players make them to, but putting Giggs and Scholes in the same group as Rio is ridiculous. They've always given it their best, Rio has only been givin it it's best since last January. Of course he deserves recognition for that, but I don't think he is the best CB in the league, one of the best maybe.

I agree, fergie paid 30 mill for him because he is the best centre half in the country, its the english way to judge a defender on how many times he flings himself on the floor in last ditch defending rather than a quality player who reads the game and makes it look easy, rio would walk into any team in europe, that can't be said of many others and that includes terry, that type of defender is two a penny, slow in thought and movement hence always arriving late and making last ditch challenges |
