From M.E.NUNITED'S youngsters booked their place in the FA Youth Cup semi-final with hard-fought victory at Old Trafford last night. Paul McGuinness's lads went through with a goal in each half from Bolton-born Sam Hewson, but they were matched all the way by an impressive City side. United made the livelier start and it was only good work from Birmingham keeper Artur Krysiak that stopped Danny Welbeck and Daniel Galbraith from giving the Reds an early breakthrough. Welbeck was proving particularly effective and, in the 15th minute, his trickery opened up the Birmingham defence for Hewson to fire The visitors pulled out all the stops after the break in their search for an equaliser, but in the 70th minute Birminghan skipper felled Febian Brandy in the area and Hewson made no mistake from the penalty spot. United will now meet Arsenal in the two-legged semi-final. UNITED: Amos, Eckersley, Cleverley, Chester, Cathcart, Drinkwater, Welbeck (Bryan 79), Hewson, Brandy, Fagan (Evans 67), Galbraith. Subs not used: Zieler, Derbyshire, McCormack.
Always good to see the kiddies doing well

I can't wait for the lads to demolish Arsenal and prove that Wenger's youngsters are overhyped.
