It's a frustrating time considering the fact that Chelsea won while being a goal down. We were a goal up at Fratton Park but remember what Fergie said before the season started? He said that he expects more stability authority and control from the team which is exactly what we lacked yesterday. From my personal view whether you play attacking football or not you must be able to calm the tempo down when away from, especially in the middle of the park and for that to be possible players like Scholes and Carrick need to show up. I adore our style of playing but yesterday when we were a goal up at Fratton park you jaust have to calm down a bit and frustrate the opponent. Now will someone get Brown out of their! I personally think that O'shea does a better job on that side of the pitch. What we are really in need of is a LEADER AND A CAPTAIN! We seriously need Gary Neville back because there is not one person on that pitch aprt from Vidic and maybe Ferdinand who rally the troops like a captain should do. Finally, the idea of playng one striker upfont ( real striker) really bugs me to bits. Play with two upfront please! I'm anticipating the returns of G.Neville and King Louis Saha to kick start our season in great fashion. Trust me When Saha will be back those goal are gonna go in automatically.
I'm guessing that with the absence of Rooney and Ronaldo we are going to escape defeat against Man City IF the likes of Hargreaves and Saha don't participate come Sunday.
Who do you think got the Hairdryer treatment? lol.

Not looking too good at the moment is it?! Early doors I suppose; but 4 points behind Chelski and Citeh already! One thing that came out of the game last night was the lack of an out-and-out striker; such as mikey owen or berbatov for example. The highlights showed plenty of tempting crosses into the box, but there wasn't anyone to get on the end of them. Tevez is a link-up man, not a striker.
We certainly miss Saha, and to some extent Ole, at the moment. Someone to get on the end of these crosses from Ronnie, Nani, and Carrick.
We had a large amount of possession in our first two games, but lacked that killer touch in front of goal. One must hope that the return of Saha and Ole will solve this problem.
On a plus note, the defence has looked solid; but we do miss the Neviller at right-back. I am a little concerned at the lack of depth and skill in the full-back positions. Without Evra and the Neviller, we do not have natural replacements; I don't think Silvestre, Brown, or O'Shea are natural full-backs. They are competent, but nothing more.

look at the bright side, both game we dominate possesion and had a lot shots at goal but lack finish as andoverred said defence is solid with maybe not good replacement for full backs but it is great hope hargreaves and anderson will be fit for next match, atleast for the bench

Absolutely Gutted.
But, bottom line, we'll soldier on. Keep the faith.

Brown was good yesterday, he is better at centre back and he's not a natural right back but he's solid when he plays, I don't think there's anything to complain about when he's at right back other than we miss having our captain. Carrick was awefull, he looked completely lost. And, I don't think I've ever seen a performance like that from Giggs. Nani showed that he will be a good player for us, contributed towards the goal and showed great pace, and a good shot, but he linked up poorly and needs more time. The quicker we can get Hargreaves battling in our midfield and Saha as an option rather than Oshea the better! Tevez, unlucky not to score, he battled his heart out and didn't deserve to lose. He is very similar to Rooney, thank fuck for that then!

I'm over the result. It's gone, it's past. It's one point more than we got from the same game last year.
The Ronaldo red worries me more. Just as it was the Rooney injury that worried me on Sunday. First off - if we can't get results from City, Sunderland, Spurs without Roo and Ron we won't deserve to win the League.
Unfortunately Ronaldo's back to ground zero when it comes to proving that you can't provoke or intimidate him and this incident will be another pressure on him. People will talk about him learning a lesson, but the silly incidents (like the stupid foul that got him sent off against City or the meaningless yellow he picked up at the end of the Milan game) come not during moments of highest physical provocation but during frustrating games when he's become too hyped up for his own good.
Last season it was noticeable that the person who spotted the "red mist" descending on Ronaldo was usually Rooney and vice versa. A hand on the shoulder at a vital moment mattered last year. i think Ronnie needed it yesterday.
People talk about captains as the men who get the team fighting, but Ronaldo is always up for a fight. What he needs is a captain or a pal who'll slow him down.

We do miss Garry Neville but probably a real voice on the pitch. A team should have lots of leaders, on it. I think Fergie has said his one criticism is that the team isn't vocal enough. Step up Rio!

I think Carrick needs to push forward but he is stopped to do so because Scholes goes frorward. Thats why i think next time we will see the introduction of Owen Hargreaves which will release Carrick into his own position and dictate the game like how he should do.

It would be sooo sweet to beat city on sunday Isn't it always? City normally play shit in every other game apart from against united, however now that they have played well in these two games (hard for me to say) it will only be right for them to do the opposite and play shite against us and lose. One of these days we will batter someone cretaing all of these chances - lets hope its city on sunday.

we'll look a better team with louis up front with tevez peeling off him like rooney last year and that was deadly, we really need to keep louis fit when we get him back, any news on when he'll be match fit?

Lads, I reckon its time we all drew a line under this now and forgot about the whole thing. In the end, its the first two matches of the season, we've got 36 left to play. Sure we have reason to be pissed off, but I dont think we have any reason to be worried. We can be pissed that we dropped 4 points, that we havent scored enough, that Rooney's crocked and the Ronaldo's seen red. But we cant be worried, its not as if we got kicked off the park by two teams. We did enough to win, and just werent clinical enough. Matches bring about a clinical edge, and we'll start racking up points, dont you worry. Look at it like this, do you think that if we played the football we did for the first to games of the season, consistantly throughout the next 36, and Chelsea played like they have, that Chelsea would win the league? I certainly dont. Early days boys, keep the faith.

Don't trains run for 24 hours in Pompey?I ended up sleeping on the streets. I was just fucking bitter about the result, which made it worse.
