Several threads springing up about his possible replacements, when the fact is he his still our player.
Yes his attitude was piss poor over the last few months, and those who cross fergie 99% of the time face an immediate exit, but there are exceptions to the rule and it has been 2 weeks now?
Who knows, maybe I'm being way over optomistic but, personally I feel the world cup provides Ruud the perfect opportunity to get away from united for a while and sort his head out. With the current lack of available talent out there I would prefer he stayed and we concentrated our transfer dealings on the gaping hole in centre midfield.
Plus anyway do we really want any of the players being touted about? ie. Defoe / Torres and others less well known?

‘’ The World Cup provides Ruud the perfect opportunity to get away from united for a while and sort his head out ‘’ – I’ve stated this on numerous occasions. The World Cup can only aid him. If he sets the tournament alight by bagging a good few goals, perhaps Alex will have second thoughts and decide he isn’t going anywhere, then decides to concentrate on our midfield, because lets be honest, its our first priority.
But in saying all this, Ruud just might want to leave.

lets be fair to defoe....he aint as bad as djemba djemba (god the name alone makes me cringe) .... he is young, pacy striker with an eye for a goal.... ok he aint played alot of the yids this season...but the two other seasons he has been wiv em he has banged in 20+ goals n the yids werent even good back then....
so in my opinion if we signed defoe to replace ruud...then we could do alot worse....

Well said, I think there is still a possibility of Ruud staying.

Just look at Spurs he's been out-performed by Robbie Keane every season they've been there together, Defoe is one of those kind of strikers that the tabloids like and big up no end until everyone believes it, even with little evidence and after a piss poor season should be getting into the england squad and getting big transfers above other players who are playing well who deserve it more. Defoe no!

totally agree would be a huge mistake to sell ruud, he is the best goalscorer in the world, we need him.
defoe is to small to be a 20goal a season man, he has got class but is similar in style to rossi, who is going to become a genius in a few years, wud rather wait for rossi then get defoe at an exxagerated price.

Defoe has been crap for a while now, dont sell Ruud keep the forward line as strong as possible add to it yes,i would want us to get someone in with some experience like Henrick Larsson not as a Ruud replacement just to give us a different option up front.

Not a bad idea at all, plus he is available on a free. My only objection would be that it would probably futher limit Rossi's opportunites. But definatley got valuable experience and has proved this season is still a top quality striker and doesn't mind coming off the bench. And would be nice to have the player who ruined arsenals dream. ;D - would provide excellent option should Ruud/Rooney/Saha get injured.

Good idea, but not gonna happen as he is already in contract talks with Helsinbourg in Sweden and he has made it clear for years now he wants to finish his career in Sweden and he wants to retire next year.
Sherringham for another run at Old Trafford woooo!
