JOHN MIKEL OBI UPDATE By editor Monday 22nd May 2006 Reports in the Norwegian press suggest that United have agreed a compromise deal with Chelsea over John Mikel Obi.
According to Norwegian paper Aftenposten, the three clubs have come to an agreement, where Lyn and United will be compensated financially in order for Mikel to join Chelsea.
‘"When the new season starts, Mikel will play for Chelsea. The parties have agreed a compromise, and that is good news for us," one of Mikel's family members told the Nigerian newspaper The Tide,’ reports Aftenposten
Except for appearances with the Nigerian national squad the teenager has not played a competitive match for over eight months when he made his final outing for Lyn.

I really hope the compensation is not simply a return of the fee we've paid for him. Hopefully we can force a swap with Chelsea or get a fee. F'n Chav bastards, I hope they self destruct soon!

Compensation? More like a point’s deduction should be in order. Dirty Chelsea.

Didn't Anderson, the Oslo director refute this report recently? There is no way utd will let this one go so easily. Even if Mikel turns out to be hopeless a stand has to be made. Have you noticed how quiet Chelsea have been about all this? They know they are in serious trouble as the have previous. If it was simply a case of FIFA suggesting some compensation this would have been resolved months ago. He was 18 when he signed a contract and was delighted to do so by all accounts. Tough. Let him rot in OUR reserves if rotting is required.

Our reserves are too good for a person like Obi Mikel. We should turn him into a shoe cleaning ball boy, greedy bastard!

£10m + Gudjohnsen would do nicely. And, then Obi Mikel will be allowed to sit on the RESERVES' BENCH at Chavski, regretting his decision of not joining newly crowned Premier League Champions 2006-07...hehe ;D

i say rubbish nothing official in Uk press so i don't believe these reports sky sports would be all over it if that had happened. What moe of an example do fifa and fa need of tapping up than Obi Mikel innocent he may prove to be in his part but chelsea obviously hijacked him days after he SIGNED read that chelsea SIGNED a professional contract with us.

I'd like to see the little shit rot in Chelsea's reserves counting his money alongside SWP.
I certainly don't want him within 100 miles of OT.
For some reason though, there still seems to be this love-in between people at United and people at Chelsea (with the exception of kenyon who won't last much longer anyway). There was that line of honour when they bought the title last year, and Fergie and Jose couldn't be further up each others arses if they worked at Arsenal and the FA, so I expect this one to be resolved amicably.
As long as that resolution involves a decent player heading our way, they can have the little twat and we'll keep Jones.

That's another reason I don't mind Obi-Wan Kanobi going to Chelsea because David Jones will get his opportunities easier...

no mater what happens with this little shit, Chelsea should still be dealt with by FIFA Most likely the reason Chelsea are trying to pay every party off now so it's not followed up so hard by Fifa, i assume a 10 mil pay off to ourselves would involve a condition of us withdrawing a complaint or something of the like. Personally i'd rather drag it on and no offence to Mikel but i'd be willing to fuck up his career in the process jsut to prove Chelsea can't do this to the beutiful game. They have already wrecked SWP's career, let Mikels be the last and take this action all the way. Could turn out they get a points deduction if we don't accept the cash which in turn could work out better for us.

Yes I’d like £10 million (plus Gudjohnsen, cough) although I’d still want to see Chelsea hit hard and punished. You think £10 million is going to hurt them? They’re probably behind closed doors laughing knowing they’ve basically got away with it. Oh we’ll throw a few million here and there, it’ll be right it’s not as if we need it. Well what happens next time they do it, then the next time? Clubs that tap up should be punished the correct way, I’ve never thought a fine solved anything, from being locked up and paying £80, to tapping players up and being fined £10 million+.
Start them on – 3 points next season I say, show them they can’t dodge past the rules whilst everyone else abides by them.

I think the better point is that an extra 10 million in our transfer kitty for a player who has:
a) acted in such a way that the fans will never warm to him b) never kicked a ball in anger in a united shirt c) won't get on at chelsea
Is a great acruement to our transfer kitty this summer and so what if we give up our right to complain about them over this, I'm sure FIFA have noticed and I'm sure someone else will complain about them pretty soon, I'd take the 10 million and go off and buy someone who isn't a mercenary.

A report on sky sports just now has Anderson from Lynn again denying that any compromise deal has been struck. I was very suprised to hear the news in the first place. Mikel came runner-up to Messi in the world u-18 championships last summer. Do you think Barca would accept 10 million for him? From Chelsea?
