Wouldn’t we all love to see the paper and read on the news that we’ve signed such a player? It seems as if everyone around us is moving on, buying players and with players ‘turning down’ a move to united, or deals falling through or other clubs being interested in them, it puts a damper on the fans hearts, it hurts. But can you imagine how Alex feels? Do you think he can sleep at night knowing our Southern friends (joke) have claimed back to back titles and have a never ending money supply? We need to back him all the way, as jumping on his back won’t solve anything.
The only thing I disagree on is him waiting until the World Cup is over, so he can talent spot. Bad idea, things will take twice as long, other clubs will be interested and the price of that player (depending on whether or not they’ve played well throughout the cup) will rocket. But I’m sure he’s got something lined up. There’s life in the old dog yet.

If a player chooses to sign for 5th placed Spurs, who will not be playing CL football next season, are we gutted? Is he the kindof player we want at United? No. Just because our business about transfers isn't being splattered all over the news (like Peter "United fan for life" Kenyon giving us daily updates on info with Shev) does not mean we're not having serious talks with players. Just wait and see I trust Fergie. Dont forget that his job is on the line, and aside from loving United, is going to want to bring in the best he possibly can.

I'd put money on it we're already in negotiations with at least one of our targets.. As for people such as Berbatov supposedly rejecting us, if SAF wanted him that much he would have simply outbidded spurs who can't match our finances. Could of course work to our advantage with some signings doing our deailngs during the world cup, everyone's attentions are focused on the world cup whilst we go in for Diarra or other such targets not involved. If we don't sign others before the world cup it kinda strongly indicates we will go for Riquelme as his price won't rise with the release clause, gives us the advantage to watch him against different opposition and styles for as long as we like without his price rocketing up. Or it could all backfire for Fergie

I think Riqueleme is a done deal, a holding midfielder and Ruud to stay
