Marseille chairman Pape Diouf claims he has told Manchester United that exciting France winger Franck Ribery is not for sale.
Lyon are also keen to sign the talented wide man, who is part of Raymond Domenech's squad for the World Cup finals.
However, Diouf is determined to keep Ribery despite the player claiming he was unhappy with the dismissal of coach Jean Fernandez.
"Jean-Michel Aulas [Lyon's chairman] wants to sign Franck Ribery," Diouf told the club's official website. "But we want him to play at least one more season with us.
"I told him [Aulas] that we wanted to keep him but I know he will keep on asking.
"Our principle shareholder will help us.
"Manchester United are also interested but they have shown much more courtesy and delicacy.
"Manchester United's representatives have told us they could be interested in the player.
"I gave them the same answer and told them he was not transferable.
"It means that Franck Ribery will stay with l'OM next season."
Meanwhile, Diouf has spoken about the vacant coach's position at Stade Velodrome.
"Our next coach has to speak French," explained Diouf. "He must be able to communicate with the group. To me, it is fundamental.
"Today we consider that, to prepare a team, you have to organise physical, technical, tactical, medical and even dietary preparation.
"Anyway, if a coach had all the qualities we need, the language would not be a problem.
"The internal solution can also be a possibility. We are thinking about it and will decide soon."

It's nice to see United are making moves for big players such as Ribery, unfortunately the chairman has dismissed the sale of the French star, although the player clearly wants to leave. So don't write off Ribery starting next season in the Red of United!
