Looks good but we need to sign a world class midfielder to go with him
That comment sums it up! Why then are we buying him? regarding criticising fergie, i have supported him for years, since day one, but i am not into blind loyalty. Carrick is not man utd quality and never will be, how is he going to develop an extra yard of pace, how is he going to develop that dynamism that Gerrard has. Mufcadz when you say keane wasnt world class when we signed him you are right but my god anyone with the slightest football sense could see he had all the attributes to take him to the top and that is my point apart from being able to pass a ball ( WoW) carrick has nothing, if i remember rightly it was only 2 month ago o'shea and giggs outshone him on his own ground, he is not world class and never will be and i say again fergie is bottling it, Gill said in an interview months ago he had to get it right or this time there would be questions to answer if he didn't, so he sees carrick as a safe bet, wont be shit but wont be top class, much the same as smith. It isnt young players we need now it is experience, and experience of europe as the benfica game proved. something carrick has never had I wonder why.

Apparently it looks inevitably we’ll be signing him within the next week. Along with an attacking midfielder, i.e. Rquelme, and then I guess I’d be all smiles next season.

Spurs wont consider less than 15million,its takin the piss.Surely Kevin Nolan would cost us less and would be twice the player can score goals and can sit back when needed.

Nolans an attacking midfielder whos had one decent season, come on mediocrity we have a plenty already, we need 2 central midfielders and a wide man, Riquelme would do me along with Gattuso and what i saw at ot this season simao, all internationals and top quality. I know thats wishful thinking but it is on the right lines not your nolans parkers and carricks what are they going to bring to us nothin we aint already got and because they are english they will be overpriced. The way some are thinking i wouldnt be suprised to see beattie named as a replacement for ruud

If we do buy Carrick, then I'm 99.9% sure that Riquelme will be coming as well. Carrick provides us the quality to contend for the premiership again, and Riquelme provides us the experience to do well in Europe. Think about it ,we could probably get both of them for 24 mill total, the price that we would've had to pay for Diarra alone!

NOLAN is definitely not World-Class.
And, yes Carrick can develop under Fergie and at United. He is what United need, and if he comes he will prove it to you all who doubt him and Fergie. I would rather spend £15m on him then £25-30m on Diarra. Both are at the same level of talent and imo Carrick will become a better player. He can sit and protect the back four, sniffing out any danger, play a defence splitting pass and join in the attacks as well. OK, he doesn't score a bundle but we need a holding midfielder and alongside Scholes/Riquelmé and with Rooney, C.Ronaldo, etc he will develop into one of Europe's best midfielders. I wouldn't be happy with just his signature and expect atleast 2 more after him another central midfielder and a winger.

its amazing how many of you are against utd singing carrick... i mean alan hansen who my opinion is the best pundit in the country praises him to high heaven at every given chanse... and martin jol who is a very good manager indeed wants to build a team around him...these are all glowing indorsements....
also the reason sven didnt bring him on against paraguay is that he felt we needed a tough tackling midfielder to break up the play...
