www.talkmanunited.com/2006/06/10/man-utd-go-for-diarra-and-carrick/Man Utd Go For Diarra - And Carrick Saturday June 10th 2006, 9:26 am Filed under: Transfer News Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is maintaining his pursuit of Olympique Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diarra. While United chief David Gill will spend the weekend finalising terms over a fee for Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick, the Premiership giants will also continue negotiations with Lyon for Mali international Diarra. The Times says Diarra remains a serious target and Carrick will be signed as one of two central-midfield acquisitions rather than an alternative to the African. Makoun, Diarra? So many names mentioned would a diarra Carrick middle two make you happy? Your thoughts please wat do u think lads, that midfield would be solid any views? i hear we may get makoun instead of diarra (rumour) and there r all these rumours of franck ribery and riquelme ands macherano wat r ure views?

No Riquleme..... i like the team but i just would like a midfield creator some one to put balls onto ruud and rooneys feet from the team you have i can't see anyone doing that only rooney which would mean him dropping deep....only my opinion

I dunno, I don't see anything wrong with dropping Rooney deep and playing Saha up front, along with Ruud, (unless he elaves, it looks as if we may purchase the slightly overrated Torres, tho still good) That means that we have a chief defensive mid, with Carrick acting in part as the creator with Rooney, with Diarra doing hte dirty work. This means having to sacrifice a winger - which means we may not get Ribery. Alternative is to play 433

If they were to come in it'd be two out of Scholes, Diarra & Carrick. So one with Scholes, I certaintly don't think Scholes should be forgot about yet atleast for another 1/2 seasons. But yeah them two acquisitions along with a winger, preferably Ribery, would be satisfactory signings and would equip us well for next season.

Rotate?...Central midfield?...doesn't happen mate. Giggsy for me is still worth a place in the starting line up in his usual position unless of course Fergie signs Ribery.
One place you have to have consistency is central midfield and that has been our downfall over the past 3 seasons.

Giggsy's still got it and I think he can start but we have to find a replacement because he's not going to last forever...lol

Read somewhere today, can't remember where unfortunately, that the deals for both Carrick and Diarra were done. However aparently Carrick deal going fine but the Diarra deal is done at club level only and he is asking too much on a personal level so will not be persued !! So many greedy twats about.
