Manchester United are maintaining their interest in Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Pedro Duscher as they wait to see if they can land Tottenham's Michael Carrick. (The Independent)
However, Spurs boss Martin Jol insists the midfielder will not be sold as he intends to build his side around the 24-year-old. (Various)
Sir Alex Ferguson is also still tracking £18m-rated Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diarra, but only if he lowers his £100,000-a-week wage demands. (Daily Star, Independent)

100,000 a week? i mean is he serious? who does he think he is? rooney and ronaldo dont get that half as that a week and this player from the french league thinks he should get that much.... he sounds like a bit of a primadonna to me.....
also on the name of duscher popping up again, its starting to worry me... he is probably the worst player we have linked with, he is in his mid to late 20s and has hardly played for argentina and plays for a now mid table spanish side......no one i have spoken to has rated him at all, but fergie seems to like him...i pray to god that he never wears the red of united....

The moment there were reports that Diarra prefered a move to Madrid I never wanted him here. He obviously is moving for the money, and not because he's coming to United. And I can't believe we're actually being linked with that piece of shit Duscher. Instead of spending the 8-9 million that its going to take to get him, why doesn't Fergie bring in someone younger, like Makoun or Y. Toure, or finance a move to bring in Ribery? I don't understand this Duscher link at all!

Duscher & Diarra can fuck off, especially Diarra demanding £100k...haha!...100,000 slaps for that one my son.
Ribery, Riquelmé and Carrick and I would be very happy...I don't see the point in Carrick, Diarra & Duscher it just crowds out the one position especially when we still have Scholesy.

Agree whole heartedly with the excessive amount requested by Diarra...he's not even proven in the Prem and he wants to be treated like he's been a benefit. I'm not taking away from his potential talent, but it's precisely that potential. Duscher...not an exciting prospect either.

Everybody think the signing of Carrick is inevitable now?

It's looking that way, but at this point who knows. Jol seems pretty adamant on keeping Carrick as part of his team bulding process.

The more Jol goes on about keeping him the more hes likely to be going imo, Jol is just wanting to try give Spurs fans a bit of a boost.

Personally i don't rate Carrick that highly, but it may come down to the player wanting to play for United that forces Spurs and Jol to sell to us. Hence Jol's noises about loyalty etc.

The Independent said that Utd are using Duschler as a ruse to force Lyons hand over the insane amount of money they want for a defensive midfielder. I've watched Deportivo a few times since we were first linked with him over Christmas and he is average at BEST. Doesn't do much with the ball, slides in for the occasional tackle. The only thing thats improved about him since he creased Beckham is his poxy ponytail is gone. He's Boro level, no more. Mascherano is twice the player he is easily.
