He’s a personal FAV player of mine. I knew he’d shine on the World Cup stage, and he’s now showing what he’s actually capable of. And although I doubt he will end up at OT (hopefully I’m wrong) I’d love him in a united shirt. Obviously, that would mean the end of the road for Ruud.

It's a tough call because while Ruud is a prolific goal scorer his lack of play making ability can sometimes be a hindrance and there's the fact that he is older too so the notion of finding a replacement has to be addressed. Torres is young, fast and is a playmaker which along with Rooney and Saha would compliment our attack well.

Great replacement for Ruud, if the worse comes to worse and the big man leaves. I wouldn't mind keeping Ruud for 2 seasons then signing Torres, by that time he'll be 23-24, matured greatly and would be primed for us. BUT, it's likely he'll leave Atletico Madrid this season so now is the time to move.

First time I saw him play 90 minutes was today and I agree he looked very good, as said in the WC section if he keeps that up he will be getting plenty of offers for his services.

Fantastic performance and WOAH up goes the price 5 million or so. Too late Fergie unless Ruud goes for the extra cash now.

Because this season he has performed better than Raul, as has David Villa of Valencia.

Torres looked the bollox yesterday, Plays like a Premiership forward, puts it about for a young kid and well his finish shows how deadly he is, great worked goal too. Because this season he has performed better than Raul, as has David Villa of Valencia.

he played great but why did he start before RAUL? Raul is not the player he was, he played in 31 games last year and only scored 5 goals. Where as Torres who plays for Athletico Madrid who came 10th scored 13 goals in 36 games.

Raul may not be the player he was, but he has been injured for large parts of the season, and his lack of match fitness explains his lack of goals to some extent. We have to wait and see what he can do next season. You don't loose it that quick.

he played great but why did he start before RAUL? Anyone now at Real is getting their career ruined, also as sfyaaz said, injuries, but still, i think real are ruining everyone, i would like to see him at Utd, not get him in 2 years!!! His price will double!! Buying a player just short of their primes better, they will be in their prime and playing the way your team plays, plus like i said, value much lower! i think fergies moving for him anyway, fingers crossed lads!
