Because Crespo's going and if he got Torres, so would Drogba. That's what this quantity of money does: don't like this colour, buy a new one. Fred's got a new car - buy a bigger one. Oh, it's not got a pink ashtray. Buy a new one. You are talking here about a seriously loaded, single-minded cretin who has to prove that he is somebody. And to do that, he wants the CL. Not for football, not for Chelsea but to prove to the world that he is something other than a lucky, ruthless so & so. It's why some people become Chairman of footy clubs. They're loaded but insecure, and to show to the world that they are a somebody. So just accept the fact that while there are footballers who want the loot, Chelsea will get whoever they want. I just can't understand why thet didn't buy Roo

I was just having a good start to the day! Don't spoil it for me, please! God! This really is getting insane. I'm thinking of that G14. I once was totally dead against it, "No way was my football club going to turn it's back on the Premiership etc. etc. etc." But Chelsea are really starting to piss me off. Now, I'd rather see us face Real Madrid one week, PSV the next, Valencia the week after that. This may sound like I would be happy to give up, submit to Chelsea. I wouldn't want to. But the way Chelsea are going, it's going to be impossible for ANY team to win the Premiership, let alone ourselves. www.g14.com/G14members/index.aspI would actually enjoy this league. It would be like Champions League night every Saturday night. We'd be facing the cream of europe, while Chelsea have to make do with Boro, Bolton, Everton.

What would be even better is G14 + Chelsea in Prem then liquidation after Russki goes

I don't think this is true. Chelsea have 4 Strikers as it is (Shev, Crespo, Drogba & Kalou). Torres is a young lad but he has a mature head on his shoulders, he will know not to join Chelsea. I also believe it's untrue because Chelsea have offered both Crespo & Drogba both new contracts.

Doesn't matter one jot if Chelsea need Torres or not. If they get a whiff that he might be coming to Utd then they will simply bid and buy him (if necessary) just to stop us getting him.
In that scenario you'd hope that the player realises that there are opportunities to be had at Utd and be well paid. Torres would hopefully relish the opportunity to team up with Rooney and create a partnership that could terrorise England and Europe, although the selling club will obviously want to sell to the highest bidder.
If you though Torres to Chelsea was bad then it might get worse as I'm sure they'll target Diarra and Mascherano before long and they are players we really need!

In the end all thats going to matter is what Torres wants to do. Yes Chelsea can obviously dish out 35 million for him, which far exceeds what we could offer, but the player has rights and could refuse a move, if he wishes. Dont' worry, obviiously there just rumours, the press is just probably trying to add some spice to the Torres transfer debate.

I dont know why anyones surprised. I thought everyone was aware Chelsea bought players to stop their rivals getting them. Bastards.

Didn't Chelsea recently part company wth their chief scout? Probably figured it was a waste of time paying someone to do scouting and that it'd be cheaper just to buy everyone your rivals are interested in.

I dunno, hopefully Torres isn't an idiot and wants to be part of an attack consisting of the best young european talent....hopefully anyways, thats of course if we are even intrested lol.

There were rumours yesterday that he had told Spanish team mates he will join Old Trafford...

Well let's not get all worried because in the end the players will go to where ever it is they're interested in going. I hope that Torres will want to come to United where he'll pair up with Rooney and be a formidable attack force rather than be another Abramovich trophy.
