If so I want more fcuking cash 12 mill Euros Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have the financial might to make a bid for Holland striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. In an interview with Munchen TV, Bayern managing director Karl Hopfner said that the transfer of the Manchester United star to the German champions was "very much within our financial limits". According to German press reports, United would be willing to sell van Nistelrooy for around €12 million, after his falling out of favour towards the end of the season. Speculation is rife in the German media that the Bundesliga champions could be about to make the 29-year-old a firm offer after club executive board chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praised van Nistelrooy in the highest terms last week. Rummenigge was also present at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion in Stuttgart to watch the striker play, and score, for Holland against Ivory Coast on Friday. The former PSV Eindhoven striker has insisted he expects to return to Old Trafford after the World Cup finals, unless he is told anything different by his employers.

As Ruud keeps saying, as far as he knows at the moment hes coming back to OT next season. I hope he doesn't leave but if the oppertunity to buy Torres arises then we should definatly go for that

Probably end up being Muntari and Carrick if we go with Torres though have no idea how much Muntari would cost.

I think that if Bayern(or A. N. Other), are willing to put up 15 million Pounds, not Euros, then we should sell Ruud. Even though he has been legendary in terms of goalscoring for us, I honestly believe that too much has happened in the last few months for him to return to his very best for us! As for replacements, there aren't very many obvious candidates are there? Apart from Torres and Huntelaar, who are both rather unproven, Toni of Italy looks damn good, but is fast approaching 30, Villa is relatively inexperienced, you are left looking at the Defoes, Ashtons and Bents who in theory could thrive in better teams, but who we could have signed for much less had we been alive to their potential! Which begs the question, ARE WE NOT IGNORING YOUNG ENGLISH TALENT TO OUR DETRIMENT? We could've had all of Carrick, Paul Robinson and Defoe for much less than we would have to pay now! It grates when we end up paying/offering twice as much for players a year or two after being initially linked with them! My vote would go towards either Huntelaar or Torres in the hope that we will get 7-8 years out of them and develop their obvious potential to Van Nistelrooy-essque heights!

I agree with ignoring English talent, its frustrating....years ago i wanted Smith, we eventually got there lol and for the last couple years ive wanted Defoe, people dig at him but he hasnt exactly had the best season to prove himself, i think hes a good striker and looks on his way out and they arent going to be able to get an extortianate amount for him, what if we buy a low rated player cheaper and then he proves to be class? Instead of buying all these 'great' players at 10 mill + etc and they flop?
I dont thnk we will bid 25 mill cash for torres, perhaps 25 mill euros but part of it depending on things like performances in europe, goals from Torres etc etc and its still a shit load for Atheltic, they couldnt turn that kind of money down, to them thats about 4 players worth of money that will help their squad and hes homegrown isnt he?

The challenge now is getting the type of players who can deliver immediate success which is why I think there's this waiting game until after the WC. The obvious problem is that then you end up paying over inflated fees all based on the perfomance in one month long competition; I'm in no way discrediting a player's performance in the world's largest stage but I think their performance domestically is also telling. We should scout for talent that we can get for lower fees because most foreign players we've been linked to are untested in the Prem and now we will have to spend large sums of money to obtain their services.
I too think that getting more English players is important for United, they are after all an English team and this will give talented English players coming up in the ranks the opportunity to develop.
