Internazionale have offered Spanish side Valencia the chance to sign Nigerian international Obafemi Martins in the summer. The Nerazzurri had claimed the 21-year-old was not for sale but may use the striker to try and bring Valencia's Stefano Fiore, who spent last season on loan in Serie A with Fiorentina, back to Italy. Inter are thought be looking for a fee of around €15 million (£10.2 million) plus the Italian international for Martins, which may rule the Spanish outfit out. However, Martins has been a target for Valencia since last summer and was again see as a possible recruit during this pre-season and the chance to sign their long-term target may be too good to pass up. Valencia's new sporting director Amedeo Carboni and Inter official Gabriele Oriali will meet to discuss the proposal in the coming days with negotiations set to continue for some time yet. Inter's willingness to sell one of their prize assets may also rekindle the interest from a number of other clubs who were warned off the striker. English trio Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have all been strongly linked with Martins in the past and may be happy to match Inter's valuation of the player. home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=397017&CPID=21&clid=1&lid=&title=Inter+offer+Martins+to+Valencia_____________________ I reckon I would match it - for that price its a bargain the guy is class! If Torres goes out of budget, then Martins would be a ver decent alternative I think.

To be honest with you, I think that Martins would bring a lot to any team that he plays for, but I am not convinced that goals are one of those things! He has frightening pace, extremely mobile. However, his finishing is not one of his strong points, and he is rather short. He is one of those plyers who if you bought as a striker, you would probably end up trying to convert to a winger! For Inter Milan, he plays off a big, strong player in Adriano, and forus the nearest equivalent, would be Saha. Ruud, love him or not, is not the type of striker who shares the ball too freely with a partner, and Rooney loves to roam. Would we have the right players/system to get Martins in behind defences? At times this past season our midfield has looked dreadfully p-o-n-d-e-ro-u-s in possession, and whilst we may be looking to address that, we haven't yet, and I would much rather focus on fixing that before looking at an Obafemi Martins type signing!
