From Sky Sports:
Skysports.com understands that Manchester United target Jean Makoun has decided to join French champions Lyon.
The Cameroon international is hot property in France after a fine season with Lille, and reportedly caught the eye of Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
However Makoun is now believed to have agreed a five-year deal with Gerard Houllier's champions, although Lille still need to give the transfer the green light.
The transfer fee could reach as much as €15 million (£10.35 million) as Lille boss Claude Puel has been determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old, fearing he will suffer from a lack of first-team football at Stade Gerland.
However Makoun now appears set to become a Lyon player, irrespective of whether Mali midfielder and Real Madrid target Mahamadou Diarra departs Les Gones.
