Fast food chain McDonald's is launching a gian burger for the World Cup - flying in the faces of its healthier food policy.
The burger will be 40% bigger than a big mac and new president Steve Easterbrook admitted '' The emphasis has changed. We are a burger business. Our traditional menu - hamburgers, cheesburgers, Big Mac and chicken sandwich - is front and centre of our plans. '' Everybody loves a burger and there is nothing wrong with that. It's time to be proud, to say 'we're a good burger company' ''
Three years ago McDonald's adopted a healthier menu, including salads and fresh fruit, after bowing to pressure to encourage healthy eating, especially among youngsters.
But only a small number of customers bought the products. McDonalds has seen its renevue grow by 30 per cent in the US while sales in Britain have been flat since 2002 when the healthier menu was brought in.

Good on McDonald’s. I don’t eat the stuff, as I’m a health fanatic, but I won’t criticize or pass judgment on someone who does. I’m also not naïve enough to blame the company for making ‘our children’ fat. How shallow and pathetic to blame the company. You give your kids the food, if you don’t want them to eat it, don’t give it them, give them healthy food. You are what you eat and if you eat burgers all the time, then you’re bound to gain weight.
The most damn right, irritating story I ever had the privilege to lay eyes on was a woman in America was SUING McDonald’s because it made her Daughter fat. Where is the justice? It’s anything for a few extra pennies to feed her and her Daughters fat in take addiction.
