Chelsea have confirmed they have received permission from Milan to speak with want-away striker Andrei Shevchenko. The former Dynamo Kiev hit-man is now expected to travel to London to discuss a possible move to Stamford Bridge for next season. The confirmation comes after the Ukraine international announced last week his intention to leave the Rossoneri this summer, with the Serie A giants conceding they would be speaking with the Premiership champions regarding a deal. Those talks now looked to have move to an advanced stage and the 29-year-old is now expected to leave Ukraine's World Cup camp in order to speak with Jose Mourinho's side in the coming days. The news comes after The Blues completed an undisclosed move for Ivory Coast striker Salomon Kalou from Dutch giants Feyenoord on Tuesday. The ambitious West Londoners have already made their intentions known for next season by snapping up Germany captain Michael Ballack on a free transfer from Bayern Munich earlier this month. The impending arrival of Shevchenko is sure to cast further doubt over the futures of Didier Drogba and Hernan Crespo, with both strikers having been already mentioned making moves in the opposite direction to Milan as part of the deal. --------------------------------- The deal is looking more and more likely as each day goes by, I’m saddened by this. !

im not.. it puts everythin on chelsea shoulder's now.. theres so much pressure for them to do well.. if they lose a game.. draw even.. with shevchenko up front.. lampard, essien, makelele, ballack in midfield.. john terry and cech at the back.. then they'll fall to pieces. they have no excuses for any flaws as soon as they buy shevchenko//

Goody Gum Drops!...this signing doesn't bother me. Manchester United still have a strikeforce to rival anyone in the world, what does bother me is the signature of Ballack and it seems more likely they'll get Obi-Wan Kanobi. So Manchester United seriously need to make some midfield signings, and they need to be effective!
