Birmingham City have accepted a £5.5 million bid from Wigan Athletic for Emile Heskey.
Wigan boss Paul Jewell revealed earlier on Thursday that his club had tabled an offer for the former Leicester City and Liverpool hit-man.
Birmingham have now accepted the offer, giving Wigan the green light to open talks with Heskey.
Heskey's future has been the subject of intense speculation since Birmingham suffered relegation from The Premiership in May.
Wigan have been chasing Heskey all summer, with Jewell looking to bolster his forward options.
Heskey is seen as an ideal replacement for Jason Roberts at The JJB Stadium and he is expected to travel to Lancashire on Friday to begin negotiations.

This would no doubt be the worst signing of the summer fiercly rivalling Fletcher should he move on. 5.5 million.... what do people keep seeing in him?  |

I live pretty close to Wigan, so I tend to follow how their team is doing.. no to Heskey!

Heskey must have a really good agent. Paul Jewell has evidently taken leave of his senses, what is it with managers spending such amounts on such dearth of talent? gives us all hope of being football managers.

i rly like paul jewell as well.. i loved his attitude over chimbonda.. i love how well hes done with wigan.. i love how honest and up front he is in his press conferences..
n then he goes and signs this donkey. wots goin on?? i thought he was so much better than that..

hes worse than crouch, and thats saying something.
maybe jewell has just brought him in for comedy value so the rest of the team can watch him and boost their confidence.
