We've all heard 1966 and "They think its all over, it is now" which is probably the most famous quote in British football but whats the best line ever said by a commentater?  Up untill recently mine was of course "AND SOLSKJAER HAS WON IT!!!" But then came the ever brilliant David Pleat. He's had a number of funny/strange quotes but the best came when he was commentating on La Arse in the Champions league Final. France we're winning one nil with a man less against a superior team Pleat said "Arsenal have just got to hang on now.... THE SIGHT IS IN END!! So whats your favourite quote?..... Im Sure David Pleat has more than one contender for this award |

Too bad Ireland didn't make it though, would have been good to have the Irish competing.

now i don't know if you guys get the same as we get over here in canada, but i think you do.... during one of the first games this world cup, i can't even remember who they were against, near the end of the match the commentator let out a heartfelt "come on david, bend it like beckham"
i don' tknow why, but it struck me as funny at the time
