How do we stop diving ( or simulation as it is now known. )? It is a major problem in the premiership and deffinatly marred the world cup. David Moyes is going to champion the cause. I doubt that there is much oportunity for diving with Cahill playing #boxing# Any ideas?
Taken from sky Everton boss David Moyes has called on The Premiership to lead the way in stamping out diving.
The World Cup in Germany was tainted by incidents of simulation and over-reaction displayed by a wide number of the nations.
Moyes has therefore taken an active stance against the practice and wants his players to stand up and be counted in the fight to rid the game of this form of cheating.
"Diving is a global problem and it would be nice if the English Premiership led the battle to drive it out," the manager explained.
"I think we have a responsibility to play the game in the right fashion. I don't want to see my players going down easily and I will be telling them that.
"I am hoping we can make a stand at Everton and say we are going to do things correctly if we can."
Former Fifa referee David Elleray has voiced similar concerns, but feels the game's governing bodies must enforce the laws more stringently to deter the divers.
"Players cheat because they believe they can get away with it," he told The Times.
"It is often impossible for a referee to be certain that a player has been guilty of simulation or exaggeration, but if players knew that their actions would be analysed and punished post-match, they would be less likely to conduct themselves in a sickening fashion."
Video replays have come into the game more and more in recent times, and are already regularly used to clamp down on other forms of misconduct, so Elleray believes that it would be logical that they be used to stop simulation as well. #redcard#

Ban the French, they started it Can't see it being an easy job. I recall Bowyer with Kewell and an incident with SWP last season against Newcastle with O'Brien avoiding contact by gettin out of the way and people saying it was simulation and that they dived, Id say neither did, they removed themselves from gettin hit. The pace of the likes of Ronaldo, SWP and Lennon when they get minimal contact they will go down purely because of the pace they are travellin when hit.

Actually, i reckon if your seen diving, straight red, no questions, ref can confirm with a side ref or the ass ref, i dont care, just red card, doesnt matter who they are and if they caught diving like after the game on replays, then it still stands and they miss the next match etc,
Harsh? Maybe, but it needs to be stopped, theres NO excuse for cheating and you dont deserve to be on the pitch if your going to, so just off with you to the dressing room, you dont deserve to wear a football shirt that day, evertime yoru caught, your suspension goes up a game i.e
1st time caught - 1 game suspension 2nd - 2 games 3rd - 3 games
something radical needs to be done

YES, thats what i mean, post match punishing ASWELL, IF they dont get caught, it can be analysed after the match, if theyre found guilty of diving or anything it can be points deducted or suspension, or if serious enough, both
People will say its unfair etc etc, but if your not diving, you have nothing to worry about right?
The only concerns would come from those who dont think its that big a problem and/or use it to get far cough Chelsea cough
In which case, their opinion doesnt matter as they have no interest in improving the game

I would love to ref a match And i dont think a straight red is too harsh, why the hell are they cheating in the first place! Why should football be different to anything else, Example If your caught cheating in GCSE exams, you are failed, no questions If your caught stealing at your work place, or cheating to get ahead, likelyhood is, your fired, no questions asked If you cheating in a game with friends, likelyhood is, they wont let you play anymore Why should footballers get a second chance for something that is taught to be bad to 3 year old children? Diving is pathetic and to be honest ihave no time for it, you take a dive in a match, whoever you are, whatever the match, you can get the hell of my pitch, and you know if before you play so why bother trying it?

ok with those examples you've just convinced me that giving them a yellow is too soft. red cards all the way.
what irritates me is that we all hate cheats and every season fifa / fa / uefa etc say we are gonna clamp down on cheating but they never do.
so is it you or me to draft the letter to sepp blatter detailing how cheats should really be dealt with?

Lol well work on it together but I think being 'overhars' is the only way to do it, even if it starts like that and they find another way, but honestly have 0 time for anything thats related to cheating, just ruins everything and pisses me off
Do Fifa an shit listen to fans suggestions?

Diving should be punished as harshly as possible because so long as it isn't dealt with aggressively it will persist. While I've never been a fan of introducing too much technology into football now it almost seems necessary since more and more players are taking a fall in dramatic fashion.

I say off with their heads,
THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT
EXACTLY
If i was that ref, would have been a straight red and if i had a say in their top level of fotball officiating, 3 match ban, its completly inexcusable

AND THAT
Lets join Cantona and stamp it out like he sas, lets play beautiful football again!
like when you get together when your young and use your jumpers for goal posts, where theres no cheating but you play becuase it joins people and unites them, where people respect eachother for the things they can do with 2 feet and a ball, at this rate, the kidswill have no one to look up to, no one to admire, it will become just a scruffy game of mud and players flying around
Somehting needs to be done, cos we want our damn game back!
(sorry if im getting too into this)

watching that, if the first opponent on the scene had booted him in the head to give him something to cry about i would have completely sympathised.
i've got a mate who is even more extreme than you are about divers.
"if you go down like you've been shot, then you should be shot so you really know how to go down."
