Mourinho, who is a big admirer of Ronaldo, has warned the former Sporting Lisbon star that he may have to leave United if he wants to be successful.
"He is a great player, full of potential and ambition," added Mourinho.
"I do not speak much with him, but as our representative is the same they circulate messages between us.
"I have already said to Jorge Mendes (the pair's agent) that if he wants to be a champion, he is better to leave Manchester.
"If not he stays there for at least another year."
what you guys think of what he's been saying?

I think he hasn't said this, he was saying earlier he thinks Ronaldo is a huge talent but should basically shut up and get on with it or he will decline, thats what he tells his own players and is what he thinks of Ronaldo.
Think thats a misquote there.

home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=403529&CPID=8&clid=1&lid=&title=Mourinho+backs+RonaldoJose Mourinho believes Cristiano Ronaldo will have no problem coping with the English press next season. Ronaldo has been vilified by the English media for his part in Wayne Rooney's sending off during England's World Cup defeat to Portugal. The Manchester United winger has been blamed in some sections of the media for calling on the referee to send Rooney off for his stamp on Ricardo Carvalho. The incident has raised doubts over Ronaldo's future at Old Trafford with theplayer thought to be worried about what type of reaction he will receive in England. United insist Ronaldo is going nowhere and Mourinho feels the tricky wide-man will have to win back the favour of the press by performing on the pitch. "If he is to be in England he will have to turn things in his favour," Mourinho told O Jogo. "I find that football players must speak very little and play a lot. "He must be calm and make it work. "His trainer and colleagues must support him and I do not believe he will have problems." Mourinho, who is a big admirer of Ronaldo, has warned the former Sporting Lisbon star that he may have to leave United if he wants to be successful.

I do wish people would put the whole articles in, it makes little sense without seeing that Mourinho just don't have fait in a) United supporting him or b) Ronaldo being able to cope with it.

The man's entitled to his opinion, and he's right about Ronaldo having to get on the pitch and perform because that's what fans want to see. As a player you're not going to be liked by some but if you play well they can say everything EXCEPT that you can't play. What's going to be important is the support he gets from the fans at OT, if people boo him there (other than the opposition supporters of course) then it will be hard to be motivated to stay.

We have to face up to the fact that now Figo's on his way out Ronni is Portugals biggest hope now, so his club, life and progress are gonna be strictly analyzed and i'm sure Mourihno thinks he knows whats best for Ronnie.. when in fact everyone else knows Fergie will bring him up as a great player.

Ronaldo knows this aswell, so while he will leave to pla in spain as when hes in his prime he will be so much better appreciated there and thats where he will more likely win best footballer in the world, Fergies guidance at this age will be something for life, he will stay a while longer, probs extend his contract in 2 years then a year or 2 after, he will be sold
AFTER becoming another number 7 legend and still 5/6 years left to dazzle the world
Name a player who has become a United legend and say, a Real legend in his career, i dont mean great, but a player to go down in the clubs history, ronaldo will want to be that, his image means alot to him bless him

Could it just be the start of the mind games?...completely unrelated from Ronaldo in reality José is having a pop at Fergie?
Something to think about.
