Reports coming out that Ligue 1 has been cancelled... Yep it’s done. If other countries follow suit I can’t see the British government being able to justify not extending the sport ban through at least June which would effectively end the season.

How on earth can they be awarded a title they haven’t mathematically won? Only the Scouse loving press refuse to accept it. Of course it’s a bummer for them but if you award it then the rest of the results throughout the leagues have to stand. I think it would be a legal minefield with promotion and relegation . Voiding the season from top to bottom due to an unprecedented situation is the only way. Good luck to the lawyers arguing against that.

Not to mention all the teams fighting for the financial windfall that European football brings. Lawsuits are fought over much less than the hundreds of millions at stake for teams that could still realistically qualify for Champions League places as the table stands.

the saltiness and the arse clapping panic from them right now is fucking sweet. I still don't think it'll get cancelled but by christ if it does they'll know about it Kinda setting myself up for failure though clinging onto that little bit of hope.

The relegated clubs would sue the league for hundreds of millions.

I really can't see an option of resuming it. They are talking about ghost games, but how? It's a logistical nightmare. You will still get people gathering in their homes to watch games, probably even going to the stadiums, even though they can't get in. Theres no chance of a vaccination this year. So how do you get 22 players on a pitch? Not including subs, managers, staff etc. Its mind boggling.

Germany’s cases have spiked and there’s talk of stricter measures again. This isn’t disappearing anytime soon. The thought of football restarting when I work in one of the largest reservoirs for deaths isn’t palatable in any shape or form. That’s without even bringing testing into the equation.

Totally agree, just can't see my wish coming true and the fa will give their poster boys the league trophy. It should be cancelled just don't see it hapoening, not until Germany and Spain cancel anyway. They both do it and England has it.

If there is just cause to cancel it (as there is) then I fail to see there being a good enough defence. Don't get me wrong I feel for a lot of them as some may never recover from this but this season restarts and there's a 2nd wave then fingers will be pointed as to why it continued. Then you're looking at corporate manslaughter charges if a player catches it and dies from it. Was an interview earlier from Talksport which I agree with 100%. The whole thing is a catch 22. Dammed if you don't, dammed if you do.

Which is illegal because it isn't mathematically confirmed. That's the litigation he's taking about. Aren't you?
