Another woman pretending to know about football! Rooney was sent off for pushing Ronaldo. The ref didn't even see him kick Carvalho's bollocks! It was Ronaldo who convinced the ref to send Rooney off. So please Ssh! Rooney got sent off for not walking away, Ronaldo was talking to the referee and then Rooney pushed him. Had he just ignored him, he would probably have gotten away with it. And I don't pretend to know anything, I do know. However, I am hardly going to get offended by some hothead letting off steam after England's exit. I run the risk of being unoriginal here.. but, Do I look bovvered mate?

Yeah heard that on sky sports. How many of you feel it will all blow over and will all be forgotten about in a few weeks? Just have this feeling the story will run until something happens be it them coming out saying there isn't a problem or one of them leaving.

I think Ronaldo is going to leave, asimply because I don't think he truly enjoys playing for United.

I have to say that what happened between Rooney and Ronaldo was pretty underhanded. Now I know that Ronaldo will do what it takes to make sure that Portugal wins, no less than Rooney would for England but that should exist within the parameters of fair play. It's obvious Portugal wanted to not have to deal with Rooney but deal with that by defending well and not trying to influence the ref. I thought that perhaps as team mates he would have just sat by and let the situation unfold as it would but by intervening in a situation which did not directly involve him was upsetting. Had that been his marbles that were stepped on fine, but otherwise mind your manners.

I think he'll be off as well.
As an aside- contrast Neville's behaviour during the game and especially after the game with Ronaldo's. Neville gave a lesson in integrity and professionalism that Ronaldo would do well to learn from. Red Nev is a credit to United and to Football.

Ronaldo should stay...Neville is a great ambassador for the club & country.
This whole thing will be blown out of all proportions because it's United, in the Holland versus Ivory Coast game Drogba and Robben were trying to get each other sent off but nothing will be said about that!

to be honest i have never really been a fan of ronaldo....he has great potential, no doubt about that, but i mean occassionaly his passion is lacking, and the majority of the time plays the game in the wrong spirit, i.e. diving, whinging, crowding the ref etc
ive always been sceptical, and today was just the final straw

. To top it all off he winked to his bench straight afterwards. quote] im nearly 100% sure that the wink was not straight after the incident but about 10-20 min afterwards. The bbc were just trying to stir it, England need a scapgoat and Ronaldo will be it unfortunatly.

A true professional plays for the shirt theyre wearing. The ref is in charge of what happens, not Ronaldo.
Stop being so fucking soft.
If you want someone to get pissed with, blame the "2nd best player in the world". Dont get pissed with Ronaldo because he loves his country.

If you want someone to get pissed with, blame the "2nd best player in the world". Dont get pissed with Ronaldo because he loves his country. Ronaldo isn't responsible for England's loss and those who think that are avoiding the larger problems that led to the loss. However I think there is a fine line between playing for love of country and doing so fairly and playing for country and trying to influence situations that will affect the outcome of a match due to a ref's decision. Now maybe I'm too honest and am more loyal to fair play than just winning so I didn't appreciate what Ronaldo did. I would no way expect to him to come to Rooney's defense, but did he have to go out of his way to get in the ref's face? According to Reuters Ronaldo confirmed about the links to Madrid and said he won't discuss it until after the WC. I wonder if he's already made up his mind and today's display was a rude farewell to his future in England....here's the article: From Reuters:Ronaldo unlikely to be welcome at Old Trafford Posted: Sunday, July 2, 2006. 10:27am AEST Cristiano Ronaldo's days at Manchester United appear to be numbered after his bust-up with team-mate Wayne Rooney in Portugal's World Cup quarter-final win over England this morning. The young Portugal star is unlikely to receive a warm welcome from fans or English players after being involved in Rooney's controversial sending-off in the second half. Ronaldo rushed 40 metres to the referee, apparently to demand a card for the England forward, who had battled his way through two Portuguese players and trod on Ricardo Carvalho's groin as he tried to disentangle himself. Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo showed Rooney the red card, although it was not clear whether it was for the challenge on Carvalho or for pushing Ronaldo in anger afterwards. But TV cameras captured Ronaldo winking at his bench as Rooney walked off the pitch. "I complained to the referee about the foul but I didn't ask for a red card," the Portugal winger said after the match. Ronaldo had also feigned a head-butt towards Rooney seconds before the match kicked off as he was walking past his club-mate to take up his position on the left-wing. Ronaldo also confirmed that media reports linking him to Real Madrid were correct. "Yes, they are true," he told reporters when pressed, but said he would not discuss the matter further until after the World Cup. -Reuters

Dont get pissed with Ronaldo because he loves his country. i agree completly, you cant blame ronaldo for wanting to win the WORLD CUP with his country. its the biggest tornement in football and everyone would love to win it so tempers are bound to get out of hand. at the end of the day the ref has the final decision not the players. if ronaldo does intend to leave then hopefully it will not be a long drawn transfer. i can understand why he would want to leave united for spain e.g. closer to home similiar culture.
