i cant believe ronaldo is gettin such a hard time.. if u think for one second that if ronaldo had stood on the balls of an english player, and rooney wouldnt make a fuss about it (dont be fooled in alterin ur minds to believe that it was ONLY ronaldo protestin.. there were 4 or 5 portugese players there!) then ur kiddin urself.. and if that happened and rooney stood by and didnt make a fuss, he would have been slaughtered for sidin with his portugese utd team mate over his england team mates..
ronaldo is a twat.. why is this new news to everyone..?? hes a brat.. and hes irritatin.. and he always plays better for portugal than he does for us.. and? we've known that for 3 yrs.. so i think its time ppl got over it.

from sky sports -
"People are saying the referee gave a red card because I spoke with him and asked him to show a red card - but that is not true," he said in the Daily Express.
"It was not my fault. I spoke with Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville and they did not have a problem with me.
"I did not get the chance to speak to Wayne, I will phone him.
"But why would I feel sorry for him? I don't feel sorry for Wayne.
"This is a time to congratulate Portugal and celebrate our victory. We will enjoy this party."
Ronaldo's Portuguese colleague Ricardo insists Rooney only has himself to blame.
"There is always the idea if finding a scapegoat but I don't think the referee sent of Rooney because Ronaldo forced him to do it," he said.
"The referee had an eye out for violent conduct."

What happens on the International scene stays on the International scene. That will be the end of it.

Bah, I'm annoyed as anyone, but emotions get the better of people on games like that. [glow=red,2,300]I Agree with dizzy on this one, i understand that what ronaldo did was a completely underhanded move but in this particular match emotions were running high as Scolari wanted to make it three victories over england in the last three games his teams (brazil and portugal) have played against us, and we wanted to get scolari back for knocking us out of WC 2002 and EURO 2004[/glow]

This whole thing about "winning by any means" is absolute s@#t. I for one am very tired of seeing players who play for the foul and others being sent off. It was very obvious that Ronaldo was trying to incite. He knows Rooney's reputation as a hothead. For what other reason would he get involved than to inflame the situation? The call was already made and there was sign of a card.
Now, the fact that these two are part of the attack for United only compounds the problem. Throughout his career, Ronaldo has shown himself as a glory hound. I daresay that he cares about nothing but himself. We all know that he has wonderful ball control, but he is very predictable: attack from the corner of the box/one,two,three,four stepover/Rooney,V.Nistlerooy, or Saha waiting in the box for a cross that doesn't seem to come/ Ronaldo taking a shot that does or doesn't make it. I've noticed the same when he is playing for Portugal. The guy is not a team player!
Let him go to Real! Good Riddance.

"I bear no ill feeling to Cristiano but am disappointed that he chose to get involved.
"I suppose I do though have to remember that on that particular occasion we were not team-mates."
If Rooney can look at things more neutrally, than so can we. Case closed.
