Tidy bit of tackle Love Lloyd Nolan That's finished now but the next movie is just as good. Another b&w movie, 'Above Us the Waves'. I am enjoying my day now as I have just reported a silent call we have been receiving since yesterday. Took note of all the times up too this afternoon and spoke to a guy in Ofcom and sent him an email with all the times. Checking on the website (number) it came up as a Satellite Dish company. He made my day when he said they will look into it and the company could be fined a few thousand quid if when checking the number there are other reports on this number. Bastard company has not rung now since 15.31 lol.

Above Us the Waves - watched that a few months ago too - dear old JohnnyMills We were getting a load of those calls too - sometimes silent calls and sometimes there was someone there claiming to be from Survey UK - they stopped ringing after I gave them a lot of abuse every time Watching the Moses film - the plagues have just started Not seen Bob Marley yet

Pick the phone up and its dead. I bet a lot of people though ring the number and get charged top rate and their telephone bill goes into meltdown mode cost wise. Seems today they are ringing every hour. Just had another one, I will expect the next one around 17.35. Still taking all the times down. I don't care, still enjoying the film.

It's usually an autodialler - we used it at the bank for outbound sales calls - the system picks up when you answer the phone and then you will be targeted to be called by a real salesperson at a time they know someone will answer They can also either re-route the call through one or more countries to get past the TPS filtering and there is also a pre-dial code to get past TPS when calling from the UK Yes, I was a scumbag ... probably still am And as you rightly say - there are companies hoping you'll ring them back and they will charge you £5 a minute

Lol. I don't think I will get a silent call for a while now. That's the wifes sister just rang and when them 2 get on the phone together they natter away for a good 2 hours or more. They do swapsies. We have a 45 minute free call option the same as her sister. After 43 minutes they can hear a 'bleep' meaning their time limit is coming up and over that they get charged for the call. They hang up and have turns ringing each other every 43 minutes. Its handy to have.

Oh well, late night supper for me. I will raid the biscuit tin as she is in the back room talking to her sis and on her laptop at the same time. As you said, a bit of peace and quiet for me and the tv, I can't complain.

Finished the Moses flick - won't be going in the Recommended Films thread It was OK - Love Bale (he's cool for a Taffy but got worried when he grabbed a sheep)- good cast but can't quite put my finger on what was wrong with it - slow maybe? I thought the plagues were a bit too condensed into a few minutes too Maybe it shouldn't be compared with the Chuck Heston version but I did prefer that one www.imdb.com/title/tt0049833/Yul Brynner was the perfect Rameses (Ramses in this version - WTF??) Expected to see a notice saying "No CGI was harmed or died during filming" - visually spectacular in places but a bit dull ... and the end credits go on for about 15 minutes - you can safely switch off when they start because there is no extra scene with Bale singing "Let my people go-go"

I prefered El Cid to that, both good films though. So much for my peace and quiet. The wife was only on the phone for 40 minutes. Had my tea anyway instead of a late night supper so my hunger pains have vanished.....for now. Spent 15 minutes though looking for a pair of the wifes shoes as she is baby-sitting for our daughter tomorrow. Of all the shoes she wanted would have to be buried in a bag in the wardrobe. She has that many shoes she could start a fucking boot sale and make a mint. If she decides not to wear them tomorrow I will go ape shit.
