I doubt that many people think England might win but at least try to give yourself the best opportunity… There are literally no players England that give you a best opportunity to win the World Cup. England doesn't have eleven players good enough. Agreed but they probably said something similar when Greece and Denmark won the Euros. Strange things happen… I don’t think we have the players to do it either but all you can do is to optimise your chances…

Lads; have the non football folk in your offices, who normally are proper in-ger-lunders every other tournament giving you shit for saying you’re watching this World Cup?
I admit, I am arguably one of the more liberal lads here, and yes a World Cup in Qatar is a bad idea, however; my watching or not watching is not changing a damn thing there. So why shouldn’t I watch something that’s already bought and paid for?

Few people in our office have refused to participate in the sweep. I’ve drawn Serbia, so all it means to me is I might get a second pick.

That’s the bottom line really. I’m sure some of those not watching have no problem supporting state sponsored clubs. Can you really be a football fan and boycott viewing the World Cup?

Same I necessarily don't agree with it being hosted there but it won't stop me watching it. First time in my lifetime that we've qualified, might even be the last with some of the players coming towards the end of their careers. Ideally it would have been nice to qualify for a different hosted one but you get what you're given. There's no chance I'm not taking enjoyment out of that, I'm savouring every minute.

This tournament couldn’t feel more distant from a traditional world cup. I'm pretty sure people had more fun when the Juntas in Argentina hosted the world cup.

But when you've had longer than any other country has ever had to get your shit together, and you do this, 48 hours out, it's all a nonsense. I highly doubt the World Cup will go to the Middle East again, after this shit show.

I dread to wonder whats going to happen with fans over there if past tournaments are anything to go by and their insane laws.

Arabs aren’t known for being welcoming to western culture and norms to begin with. This was one country’s bid to sport wash their image achieved by bribes and corruption.
