Does anyone suffer from Hay Fever? I seem to be developing symptoms of it a bit later in life and it’s a bleeding nightmare. I seem to have it later in life as well. I started get itchy skin out of the shower and red blotches under my armpits after the gym. My wife told me to take Anti histamines and they do the trick for me. Every 4 weeks or so I get laid out and in a complete fog, with zero energy. My eyes get really dry. The weather today in Dublin is the same as it’s been the previous few times I’ve gotten it so it’s too much of a coincidence.

I'm now miserable with it every year. It's also worth considering other possibilities. I thought I was suffering from a particularly bad dose of hay fever earlier this year, blurred vision, headaches, etc, on top of all the other typical symptoms. Didn't go to the doctor for months because I thought I knew what was causing it. Turns out I'm anemic.

I was suffering from confusion and fatigue as well before getting checked out.

Ouch. Get yourself a Chinese cleaver. Its the only knife I use now. Really versatile and pretty difficult to chop any pinkies off. Good luck! I'll check one of those out. I've been using that knife for 6 years and nothing. Dunno what the fuck happened today. I was a chef for 15 odd years. Cut myself loads of times. But the worst cut I ever got was cleaning some stainless steel shelves. A screw had loosened and I almost took the top of my little finger off on the screw head while wiping down the shelf. Had to cauterise it on a hot pan because it just wouldn't stop bleeding. Also, Chinese cleavers are the bollocks. You can use them for just about anything. Don't cheap out on it, though. Invest in a good one.

I saw someone installing a brand new commercial kitchen at a hotel with a lacerated finger once. Brutal. HSE got involved and contractor got fined.

You can pick a serviceable one up for around £10.

My bro in law bought us some Japanese knives for our anniversary, they are beyond sharp. Really slim, delicate blades but the way they glide through anything you cut is mesmerising.
The amount of times I've sliced through the tips of my fingers, and only realised after as the knife just goes straight through them like butter.
I love cooking, so cannot express how much I love these knives, but Jesus you need to be careful with them

He tells me the exact same thing regarding the sharpness of those things. Loves it to bits.

As a side note, its bad luck to gift knives! 😂 For whom? The gifter or the receiver? My incident will either prove or disprove the theory once and for all. 😂

As a side note, its bad luck to gift knives! Especially if Hermes deliver them. Somebody is getting killed.

Just interviewed for a promotion at work. Thought the first half went well but then they said we'd already taken the allotted time for the interview and I had to speed up my answers significantly, which threw me off for the second half. It annoyed me as I think it's their job to try and interrupt me and say "can you speed it up" during an answer and not let it get to that point, they'd never said previously that I had to stick rigidly to the allotted time or anything.

Some people are just awful when they interview people. Been there many times.

Not sure if it happens often, but for me, it was a first. I'm 49 and been in a relationship for nearly two years. She is absolutely incredible. What I mean is, when you're together, no one else exists. She was my sole focus. We have so much fun and she opened up brand new experiences to me being from another culture. I ate food I would never try, learned how to use chop sticks, started learning mandarin. I became more assertive at work and in life. I had this beautiful, amazing lady calling me handsome! Me, handsome. Wow, king of the World. Today was a hammer blow from Thor himself. She has a kid with her ex husband. She broke up with me to go back with him for the kid. To say I'm devastated is a massive understatement. My head is all over the place.

This too, shall pass, and in the meantime, we're here for you.
