Taken from The National
Manchester United have a problem with Paul Pogba. In one month's time the pick of their youth side, a midfielder who many regard as a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes, will be free to discuss terms with any club outside the English leagues. There are no shortage of suitors.
Pogba's representative, a close friend who has never looked after a Premier League player before, has brought in outside help to manage the situation. A well-known Italian agent with a record for securing hugely lucrative contracts for a stable of flamboyant talents, he is already working on maximising Pogba's market value.
In an environment where teenagers move for the best part of £20 million (Dh 114.5m), Pogba would be a steal. Move outside England and there will be no transfer fee, only a Fifa-mandated "training compensation" totalling a few hundred thousand euros. Both AC and Inter Milan are enamoured by the idea of acquiring one of Europe's most promising talents, bolstered by three years of Old Trafford education, for that price.
If the France youth international switches to another English club the fee will likely end up being agreed by an independent tribunal. It will be higher, yet still fail to meet United's valuation.
The quid pro quo for such bargain prices are higher wages and commissions. Not 19 until mid-March, Pogba will greatly increase his salary. A new agent who barely knows him but can place him at the highest spending clubs will request a substantial fee - maybe as much as €3m (Dh14.7m).
United are desperately trying to convince Pogba that his best interests as a footballer lie in remaining with Sir Alex Ferguson, a manager who has rarely hesitated to promote youth to his first team. Given Milan and Inter's historic unwillingness to do the same, their argument is completely rational. Moral weight, however, is absent.
After several years of trawling the continent's development leagues for the best 16 year olds, Premier League clubs have been made to pay for their avarice.
This summer Chelsea lost Fabio Borini to Parma (the Italy Under 21 striker has since joined Roma on loan) and were forced into inflating Gael Kakuta's earnings to stop the Frenchman returning to his home nation. The summer before, Arsenal lost Fran Merida to Atletico Madrid when also out of contract.
The message is simple. When you throw adult-sized salaries at boys not yet old enough to drive the thousands of kilometres from their family homes, don't be surprised if they steer themselves to the next highest bidder as soon as they've got their driving licence.

I´m pretty sure I read before the season started that he has a contract until 2013???
But if indeed this article above is true the only way to keep him is to start playing him asap. Starting tomorrow. I would also love to see these youngsters like Pogba and Morrison come off the bench in the league. Surely they can´t be any more depressing than what we have to see week in week out lately.

If we lose this lad over fucking about with wages, I will be furious. It is an unacceptable situation.
Of course an agent has got involved, they are fucking parasites.

He might be more inclined to stay if Ferguson just fucking played him. Still, losing such a highly promising youngster because the club aren't prepared to pay higher wages to him is just ridiculous. There may be a totally scumbag agent involved (they're all scumbags if you ask me) but that's besides the point, this should have been wrapped up long ago and it's fucking stupid that the club are dragging their heels over it.

Aye. If Darron Gibson is considered a better bet for a bench spot then what the hell is really going on. Maybe Pogba is shit and everyone in the world's been conned somehow.

Throw him in tomo night and if he cant handle it SAF has the proof for his reluctance to play the lad, if he swims we have the new CM we all so desperatly crave and get to keep one of Europes best young talents, win, win.

I´m gutted if Gibbo gets the nod tomorrow. SAF has to rest Fletch and Carrick so there´s a true possibility we could start with Pogba. On the other hand I wouldn´t be surprised if it´s Park and Gibson. That would be just typical.

i'm as desperate as you lot for Pogba to be the man for us, but none of us are in a position to know better than Ferguson how to handle the situation. he might be ready in the next few games or perhaps we'll see little of him all season. maybe there's an attitude problem in there, or maybe he's got some injury issues, maybe he's having growing pains, who knows?? let's wait and see eh? it seems everyone knows better, regarding who he should or shouldn't sign, who is and isn't ready to be called into the first team. course it's our right as a fan to play armchair manager but it's making for a boring forum these days

Oh J. Lighten up. I think things like this make for much better discussion than agreeing with everything Ferguson says or does. I haven't seen much of Pogba AT ALL. It is the thoughts of other people and the built up anticipation they express that interests me seeing as I haven't much else to go off. So threads like this keep me updated. No we don't know what is going on behind closed doors but there is no harm in the process of elimination.

just bloody play him and see what he can do. he could be the best youngster and cant handle the pressure of the first 11 or he could take it in his stride. we wont know until he is given the chance.

Ah its ok J, 37 years in management, winning nigh on everything and turning 1 club into a beacon of dominance, means nothing nowadays. Easy mistake to make though. I mean, hes no Graeme Souness - top manager he was like.

What´s the point if we´re not allowed to speculate and talk team selection? Many of us would loooove to see Pogba and Morrison get some game time. It´s pretty fucking expensive to travel for a reserve game from where I live.
