A lot of people criticise 50 Cent for not being 'hip hop' and selling out but at the same time praise the likes of Kanye West and Lil Wayne who's last albums had them singing through auto-tune and performing rock songs, respectively.
I've had BISD for about a week and didn't believe 50's words when he said that this album was at least equal to 'Get Rich or Die Tryin', having listened to it through a full times, I absolutely love the album.
It goes hard and from the start to the end is proper hip hop, apart from the leading single "Baby By Me" which features Ne-Yo.
Tracks such as "Then Days Went By", "Death To My Enemies", "So Disrespectful", "Psycho" featuring Eminem and quite a few others bring you back to the 50 of old before he joined forces with Eminem and Dr. Dre. The hungry 50 Cent who was fighting for a deal.
This, for me, is one of the best hip-hop albums I've heard recently.
Of course, the haters out there are always going to criticise 50 no matter what he releases.

the problem with 50 is that he just isnt that great of an MC. so he has to rely on good quality tracks, of which hes had very few since 'get rich or die tryin'

Loving Baby by me with Ne-yo and I must admit, ive only heard a couple of others, but album sales have suffered (150,000 in first week compared to 500,000 on 'Get rich' and 'The Massacre') and critics seem to be slating it. Seems like too much Aftermath publicity is going on Relapse (2) and Detox.

Chris, you on about The Game? The Game's been shit since he left 50's side. This album, regardless of album sales, is heat. "Hold Me Down" is fantastic, one of my favourite albums of the year.

Chris, you on about The Game? The Game's been shit since he left 50's side. Its funny you say that, because 50 has been shit since he let go of The Game. Game, for me, is the superior rapper. 50 mainly raps about having money, and before you mention album sales (yet again), 50 wouldn't be where he is without Dre and Em behind him. A poll on the Aftermath website showed that people were looking forward to Marsha Ambrosius album more than 50's! Album sales prove fuck all about who the better rapper is. 50 outsells Nas for example, but 50 hasn't got shit on Nas, who, I think, is the best lyricist. To be fair, since the beef, both have just gone about things the wrong way. I'm a fan of the Game, but he had some kind of embarrassing attempt at starting beef with Jay-Z which went nowhere. Now 50 has signed up Beanie seagal and they are both going after Jay. Sorry, but neither are in Jay's class.

I accidentally downloaded "stretch" from itunes, cost me 99p ffs, was alright nothing special. You reckon it's worth getting? Last album I bought was Dizzee rascal, which is brilliant by the way. I'd recommend it. I think it's one of the best hip hop albums recently - no RnB hooks (apart from two songs) and it's raw, he goes in hard about his beefs, his court case with his wife, his early life. I think track for track it's a quality album. People who say 50 Cent isn't a good rapper don't really listen to him. "War Angel LP" and "Forever King" which were mixtapes he released this year were great - they'd have been albums for most other rappers. "Hold Me Down" is similar to "Baltimore Love Thing" (about a woman with a drug habit) where you think he's talking about a girlfriend but in fact it's his gun. "Stretch" isn't the best song on the album but it's still a good track to listen too. "So Disrespectful", "Psycho" (with Eminem), "Death To All My Enemies", "Gangsta's Delight", "Do You Think About Me" and "Hold Me Down" are the best tracks off the album, in my opinion. "OK, You're Right" too but that was out before the album. - Chris, you on about The Game? The Game's been shit since he left 50's side. Its funny you say that, because 50 has been shit since he let go of The Game. Now 50 has signed up Beanie seagal and they are both going after Jay. Sorry, but neither are in Jay's class. The Game is not the superior rapper and 50 Cent does not rap about money at all times - in fact, a lot of his material, he talks about the struggle - whereas someone you said is a class above (Jay-Z - who I'm a big fan of, btw) raps about being rich more than anyone. The Game raps about other rappers, name dropping at every opportunity and all his hits have been with someone else on the hook or in the song. Not to mention his best album - The Documentary - it was basically a compilation of songs 50 Cent didn't want for "The Massacre" with The Game's verses on them. "Hate It Or Love It", "How We Do", "Westside Story" and more - just look at the credits on the album. As for 50 Cent v Jay-Z which I think we'll see soon, 50 is the only rapper who could challenge Jay-Z in a competitive beef. Jay-Z is probably better than him, I have my phases where I change my mind on that one, 50 has a big influence and in competition with other rappers can destroy them. I'm fed up of people saying 50 Cent is a sell out or can't rap or whatever, listen to his music with a clear mind, it's proper hip-hop, unlike this stuff that Lil Wayne and Kanye West have started to release. One's doing rock and the other is singing - yet people say they're better Hip Hop artists than 50 - gimme a break!

the game IS the superior MC when compared to 50. by a country mile. neither has released anything top class since they parted, 50 has been marketed better as usual though
and putting 50's name in the same sentence as jay-z is sacralige.
lil wayne = shite MC Kanye = shite MC

"Jay's a big man, too big to respond, I'm the big dick, the one everybody's on." 50 Cent - So Disrespectful
-
I think 50's work will only be appreciated when he's dead, his music is all fire. Even his poorer albums had excellent hip hop tracks on them. Maybe, they're not what the buying public want to buy but for hip-hop fans it should be what they want to hear.

I do like 50. I agree, he's better than Lil Wayne as Wayne seems to do his raps based around pop, though he has good beats too. Its just the same shit over and over with 50 and 50 name drops too. His career is based on beef, starting with How to rob, calling out many rappers just to make a name for himself. To be fair, it worked, but you can't say that he doesn't name drop.
Adam, you have mentioned before about the Documentry being mainly written by 50, but that is just according to 50 which the game disputes. I can't say whether 50 wrote the vast majority. I wasn't there. Neither was you, but it makes more sense that Game wrote more since his lyrics are west coast, which 50 knows nothing about. We'll never know though. Its also my OPINION that Game is the superier rapper. They could have been the next Dre and Snoop if it wasn't for 50's ego.
Also got to agree with PeeJay (quite rare) that 50 shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentance as Jay. Like I say, I really do like 50. He's spot on when he's top of his game, but he's nowhere near Jay.
